Hi i recently tried to play some movies on the wii from a sd card, now i had read that avi files worked so popped a avi video on the card and the wii didnt recognise it :(
did some digging on the net and found a program called wii video 9 that converts them to a wiii compatable format, great i thought so tried converting a 800mb avi film and it turned it into a 2.5gb monster of a file?? i only have a 1gb card.
Any1 know how to get films to play on the wii that are less then 1gb??

If you've got a pc on a network then there's some software you can install which allows you to use Opera browser as a way of streaming data from your pc. You'll have to convert the files into the format Opera supports though I think. It's called Orb I think
It is strange, i converted a 5mb video file to play on the wii, by the time it was converted it was 55mb

I've managed to get this orb thing working now.
I installed the orb software on my pc (wirelessly connected to my router) and start it up. Then go to the internet chanel and type in the url for local orb server(i forget what it is). The orb server will take wma, mp3, rm, mpeg files and stream them as flash to the opera browser. You can select the file you want to watch from the menu. It's quite basic looking but if you really want to it works quite well. The problem is you get the huge navigaion bar at the bottom and the playback interface is crude - play/pause/volume only.
