few questions

right, I'm sure im missing something obvious but:

1) I've got WIIconnect24 on, but I don't know how to surf the net
2) When I switch the WII off, the light is yellow not red. THe remote stays on with the blue light. is this okay?

To surf the net you need to go to the shop channel and download the trial version of the internet channel.

The yellow light means it's on standby in Wiiconnect24 mode.

With the lights on the remote, I don't think they should be on but if they stay on they usually go off after a few minutes of inactivity.

1. You need to go to the shopping channel and install the web browser (it's free at the moment)

2. The yellow light means that wiiconnect24 is working, so you can still get updates and messages for when you switch on. Not sure about hte blue light. If you switched off from remote it should switch the remote off too. If you switched off at the console then I guess it will switch off after a period of non use.
