how good is red steel

Graphics

The graphics on Red Steel are quite detailed and make some of the best lighting effects I've seen on a game since Splinter Cell (well it is UbiSoft anyway). The graphics also feature some nice little touches like the distortion through glass, the reflections through the polished floors and feature impressive explosions. It shows what the Wii can achieve and bearing in mind this is a launch title, things are looking good for the "graphically inferior" Wii.

Controls

This is what makes this game. The use of controls on Red Steel makes the game far more engaging than other FPS's with standard controllers. The Wiimote as a gun is great with the Nunchuk used to open doors, flipping tables for cover or even throwing or rolling grenades all with a movement of the arm. The use of the 2 controls to wield as swords is also extremely good.

One small problem is the turning speed, it is rather slow and if someones shooting at you from behind it can take a while to turn round. Minor quibble but it is still a niggle.

Length of Game

Not completed it so far but it seems this game has the average length of most shooters out there.

Excitement

Things can get pretty intense out there and this games does deliver excitement. Maybe this is due to the fact you're drawn in more by the control system.

This is an extremely fun game with a mix of guns and swords to keep you interested.

Realism

The enemies move around and try and flank you or even run away realistically, although there are a few AI issues sometimes with enemies standing right next to you and just shooting away. Overall quite realistic in it's approach with some nice realistic graphical touches.

think of it as like a FPS like half-life crossed with Point Blank, the realism is there and IMO a much better control system than hving 2 analogues.
