Hello, I am new here, but have been monitoring this site as it has been useful for information, so I am now hoping that someone here might be able to help me!!

I got my Wii on Tuesday and had no problems with it at all, until Thursday when I set it up with my wireless router. The Wii identified the connection with no problems, then said it was going to do an upgrade. It started and then I lost all picture, sound and use of the remotes. Since then I have been unable to use it at all - the same thing with no picture, sound and the remotes only flash all four blue lights and then do nothing. The Wii will switch on and the green light shows and the disc slot flashes once and then there is nothing. The fan is still going and the eject system still works, but nothing else.

I have read elsewhere of problems with the firmware upgrade causing Wiis to fault, but nobody seems to have any personal experience of this! Anyone had this happen? Anyone got a solution?

I got the Wii from Amazon - I bought it on Friday last so I am hoping that someone else here who bought one at that time might have had the same problem. Amazon say they can't replace my Wii only refund it, so I am hoping Nintendo will replace it direct. It took me so long to get a Wii so to have it die and the prospect of finding another one is not great.

Please help!

Well it's a known fact that if something goes wrong when you upgrade firmware than that's it. Habe you rung Nintendo, they are probably the only one's that could give better help.

The only thing I can suggest is leaving it unplugged for around an hour or so then try again.

Did your router lose connection with your ISP ?

As mentioned, I'd unplug it, leave it an hour, make sure the internet connection's OK & re-try .....

no, nothing has worked. It did start up OK last night, but then I lost picture and sound after about 30 seconds...

looks like I have to send it back to Nintendo...

Ah man that sucks, really does suck, if you can get it on again, try to see if it can get the update going or something, long shot but worth a try. :(

Does it seem to be running ok but without the picture? By this i mean if you leave it for a minute wait until you think the warning screen is up with the press A to continue. Then try pressing A and moving the wiimote at the tv, does it vibrate everytime it goes over one of the wii channels? If it does then it maybe just the video settings it buggered up on when you were updating!! If this is the case maybe you could navigate blind to the update screen with our help!!! :)

amazingly it started to work last night and so I immediately started the system update, which started well and then stopped. I even left it on all night but it didn't work.

I think I will have to send it back to Nintendo.

I don't know how nintendo worked it out, but I really doubt the Wii would start doing the update BEFORE having the update file completely downloaded before hand. Doing the update on the fly while downloading it would be crazy. That would mean that everytime a console looses conection while doing the update it would die.
