ive noticed you can buy these from EBAY at under £10 BUT they are from Hong Kong though so im worried that it will not work with a PAL machine

It prob would work but i wouldnt risk it, chance are they will be no way near as good build quality! HMV have got them online for £15 but not in stock at the moment so ive gone for a madcatz one from play.com for £18

I bought one for my PS2 for £3.00 on eBay from Hong Kong, worked really well with no probs at all.

Didn't do the eBay thing for the Wii though, wanted it to be spot on so got the Blaze lead from Amazon. It's pretty damn good too. :D
