USB ports

I have noticed a couple of usb ports on the back of my wii, not that its anything unusual or that they are hidden :p but what are they for, can you plug a keyboard or memory stick or something in to it?

i have heard that at the moment they can't be used for any hardware (YET). at the moment you can only use it for general stuff that just needs power, ie mini USB toys, charge your mp3 player, you can't use your memory sticks or any small memory things.
later on either late janurary or spring ish they are goning to have the LAN cable to plug into it. i don't know when anything else is coming out for it.

Well i prosumed the usb ports where for if you wanted to set up the internet wired but im sure you could plug in your mp3 player not sure about usb keyobaord though. Give it a try?lol

Would be nice if they would let you plug in a keyboard and mouse in them so you can use them to play FPS games if you wanted too

Yeah and would be very useful whilst using the wii's internet and messaging people - would make it so much easier and faster.

hi there.
we got a wii cooling fan delivered today (from hong kong off ebay for £7 including delivery charge) and it plugs into both of the usb ports to gain its power.
the fan also has a usb plug on it to plug further items into it.

so there you go, a piece of hardware that plugs into your usb ports.

(and in case you want to know, i got the fan as i thought what the heck, its only £7. at least i will get something on it with "wii" written on it lol, and i heard that it can keep the wii running a bit smoother)

also now got my wireless usb dongle plugged into it and working.
