wii cooling fan help

just a quick question.

i have seen loads of cooling fans for the wii selling online, ebay, etc.

is it really needed and does it help?

do you own one and have you noticed a difference?

any help appreciated.

I don't have one and it seems pretty pointless to me.

Personally I think cooling fans are a con designed to prey on people's fear of their console exploding into flames! These machines are well designed and thoroughly tested...I'm sure they wouldn't pass the required safety tests if there was a risk of them melting!

I imagine that so long as you follow the instructions in the manual about keeping it in a well ventilated area you shouldn't need an external cooling fan.

I've had an Xbox 360 for about 6 months now - its puts out much more heat than the Wii but still hasn't burned my flat down!

Happy to be proved wrong if anyone has credible evidence of melting Wiis!
