Will Wii US Console play European Games and Vice Versa

Hello, my first post and apologies if this has already been answered.
If I purchase a WII Console in the US, can I play European games on it?
Is there region locking?

es there is unfortunately, UK games are PAL and will not work on a US system. The only way you could get a US model adn make it worthwhile wud be by only buying games for US Wii's. Which are hard to get hold of. Get one from PAL regions mate (Europe, Australasia, some other places)

A US Wii will not play PAL (European/Australian games) - apparently some company are working on a Freeloader disc though, but otherwise you'd have to buy the games from the US. Not really that hard, done it with my GBA and DS - you'd probably end up paying around £5 less per game, and get releases that might never come out over here. Of course, you wouldn't be able to work into a store and buy a game when you felt like it but I rarely buy off the shelf anyways.

You would need a stepdown converter though because a US Wii would run off 110v rather than 240v. These can be bought from places like Ebay or Maplin no problems though.

I really considered this as an option, but none of the import sites I use have had Wiis in stock (dvdboxoffice.com/videgamesplus.ca).
