Wii console speicification

some of you may know this already, or parts of it, but i felt it was necessary to put the tech spec's of the wii...so here you go, enjoy!


not much is known about the Nintendo wii specifications for processors and stuff, at present Nintendo have not realy been telling us about the inner workings and they have not released much information about a detailed specification for the Wii.

although some details have been released by Nintendo about the console:


* Processors:
IBM PowerPC “Broadway” CPU :
ATI “Hollywood” GPU :

* Memory:1T-SRAM and DRAM
512 MB built-in expandable flash memory

* Ports and Peripherals:
Two USB 2.0 ports.
Wireless controllers.
Possibly a single proprietary output for video and audio.
4 Nintendo GameCube controller ports and 2 Nintendo GameCube memory card ports (for compatibility).
Optional USB PC-compatible 802.11b wireless router.

* Media:
Slot loading optical disc drive compatible with both 12 cm and 8 cm proprietary optical discs (again, for GameCube compatibility) as well as standard DVD discs. The proprietary optical discs will hold 4.7 GB (single layered) and 8.5 GB (double layered).
2 front loading SD memory card slots.
Nintendo has announced that the Revolution will have a content ratings system in its console, having age restrictions as follows: PEGI 3+, 7+, 12+, 16+,18+, and ESRB EC, E, E10+, T, M, and AO.

* Networking:
Wi-Fi by the Broadcom Corporation:
+ Built-in 802.11b & 802.11g support.
No Ethernet port built-in, though Iwata has mentioned that a USB-attachment Ethernet port peripheral will be released, though no further information is known.

* The final version will be smaller than the prototype presented E3, which was described as being “about the size of three stacked standard DVD cases”.

this is surprising:
the wii being released on the 8th is NOT Dvd compatible

BUT nintendo have planned to release a DVD enabled Wii next year!!

maybe this means people wanted a DVD Wii and wrote to nintendo, and they listened!! i somehow doubt sony would do such a thing

Great idea! Personally i wouldn't care less if the Wii isnt DVD compatable but people are curious about it. Well there minds are at rest thanks alot Foz! Nah i doubt Sony would.

And BTW, when one talks about being "baked" or UI polish, one just has to consider the little things (and big things) that make the user experience. For example, on the XOOM, the App Market does not change orientation when you move the device from Landscape view to portrait. Apple is known for products that are easy to deliver. It is true that most people never far from the original settings from Apple, but it would be nice for those who want to get a little more personal touch to this option. I do not know if we have some of the upcoming Android innovations (Nuance Voice vs. actions) to thank. Here's the contest!

I'm on Rogers in Canada and am able to tether at no additional charge on my 6GB plan but it does not work with iPad. I'm very reluctant to jailbreak so this is the only feature that may influence me to do so.

I love my DODO case for my iPad 2. I actually get more compliments on the case than on the iPad. I actually wish they made a small version for the iPhone. Looking at the limited edition version almost makes me want to order another one. My upgrade was pushed from June to November. I figured it was because I dropped my price plan and minutes to the minimum. Maybe I'll call and ask this too, but I doubt they know anything. MOV Converter (http://www.freemovconverter.com/) My favorite post was about the existence of JailbreakMe.com. It was such a simple way to jailbreak, it finally got me to quit stalling and jailbreak! I haven't looked back. I have even jailbroken other people's devices for them. I believe I will forever be Team Jailbreak.

Funny you should mention the Flashlight app. I deleted it yesterday and it was SO HARD!
