I have had enough of frantic searching which always ends up with me not getting a Wii. I have decided that, as much as I want a Wii, it's just not worth getting up at 7:00 every day and ringing loads of expensive customer services lines and just getting told the same thing; that there are none left.

I really can wait. How long do you reckon people are going to have to wait until they're avaliable in the shops without any messing around?

ill have a Wii please bob

haha. ive just realised that most the calls i made were landline numbers in my catchment - so thats alright because from home they're free for less than 60 minutes.
i was on a customer service line to argos for 10 minutes though. must have been pricey.

you mean, more time to play ONCE you have one?
soon soon!

Call me a cynic, but I reckon the Wii will become readily available around the same time the really big games come out. When they have a Mario title or two (Galaxy, especially) Nintendo will want the Wii in shops.

I personally think that the 'shortage' has been a well-played manipulation by the Big N to counter-act the relatively poor launch line-up.

If you think about it, if there had been a plentiful amount of Wiis in December and everyone who wanted one had got one, then the only game anyone would really be buying is Zelda and lots of potential customers would be put off (as they have been before for N64 and GC) by the small and average line-up of games at launch.

The way they've done it though, they've created a hunger for Wii in people who probably wouldn't have wanted one if they could get one easily (the thrill of the hunt!), and then when the frenzy dies down and EVERYONE has a Wii, then they'll bring out the big guns (Mario) in an attempt to beat the PS3....

If I recall correctly, isn't Mario Galaxy, Super Paper Mario and Metroid all due at roughly the same time the PS3 is launching in the UK? Makes sense, doesn't it?

So, in short.... I reckon we'll have no more Wii shortage shortly before Easter. Maybe.

agreed, but it's still a bit of a joke. They want to create hype and they've essentially succeeded, but it's time to supply the damned things! If I can't find one soon I'm just going to buy an xbox 360 :(

I think in a couple of weeks if go down to a big game in the morning you should be alot easier to secure one. albeit not easy only a few trys i reckon, demand will drop off a bit soon. oxford street game will be getting more soon i hope, because its quite central. I havn't personally bothered with the whole chasing game, how hard is it now around london if you down to game store in the morning are you likely to get one? i will try this week but i have limited patience with these things

the thing is i'm prepared to hunt a bit like every saturday but if it takes like 10 trys to get one i will most likely give up.

Most GAME shops had big deliveries yesterday. They still had a couple left at one of the Crawley shops when they opened at 11am this morning. The staff aren't advertising they have any - you just need to ask. They are expecting deliveries most days now so it should be getting easier to get hold of them.
