not sure if anyone on this forum is from notts but i thought i'd create this thread just in case

i went into GAME this afternoon and asked. said they'd had a delivery every day for the past few days (he said yesturday, day before/day before that) so hopefully when i phone tommorrow i will be able to bag one! wasnt 100% sure about reserving one for me if they did have any tho

just keep phoning from 8:45am onwards and if get through say you've been trying since xmas to get one and if they say they are getting some....literally beg them to keep you one...cry if you have to....get a little kid to come on the phone and cry to them! ...you have to go for the jugular and go a bit further than "oh would you reserve me one then?"....they are human after all...well most of them! :lol:

i tried game continually to no avail, then on the off chance rang toys r us and lo & behold they had 5 :shock: :shock: :shock: in stock bagged one straight away, that was saturday so it may be worth a call :roll:

i rung into the victoria centre store & listergate store in notts this morning - along with going in everyday for the past few weeks to ask (they're probably sick of me) and they said they havent got any in and dont know when they are.
in the victoria centre store there is a sign saying something along the lines of "we get deliveries everyday so please ask for stockupdates" so. i ask them, and they dont even know what the sign means. OR. they just dont tell me when they have HAD stock in.

i spent the day chasing up a nintendo that had been reserved by someone at argos.
it ended in tears!

I managed to get one from Argos Beeston last week. I called 08706003030 and selected option 4. Give the helpdesk person the following CAT no 568 3257 (dont say Nintendo Wii as they will probably tell you its out of stock) and ask for availability in the Notts area. They are usually very helpful and will tell you straight away if there are any in stock. I tried at 9am, 12pm and then again at about 3pm. I managed to reserve one.
They say that stock is updated on their systems throughout the day. It worked very well for me. They seem to be the best bet and the only place that let you reserve one! Good Luck!

i should just learn the argos catalogue codes.
might i ask. mysterio, how often did you call, and how long after that were you able to reserve one.
and also, was it stock around the area?

Well Amy.. I called at 9am as suggested by an older post and they had nothing in the area however the lady did ask me to call again as their systems update throughout the day. Then called again about midday and it was the same. Decided to call one last time at 3pm and mii-usic to my ears there were 3 available at Beeston Argos and she asked if I wanted to reserve one - Hell Yes! Picked it up later on that day. By the time i got there the other two had already been reserved. It is worth calling them atleast 4 times a day or every couple of hours. Also another tip is just after midday because all stock at all stores is updated around then (again something the lady at the helpdesk mentioned . Hope this helps.[/b]

yeah argos were really helpful with me. i called numerous amounts of times to both stores in my area. and then proceeded to go in town aswell just to check. no luck.

atleast i know theres hope! (especially before this dreaded 'march' date)

Keep persevering as you WILL get one it is only a matter of time. I admit I was very lucky. What dreaded March date? What happened with you regarding your trip to a store ending in tears?

most stores are saying that set aside the dribs and drabs that are snatched up in minutes. wiis will be available without trouble in march.
that is hassle free purchasing though - end of january are the bigger deliveries, thought still not enoguh to go round.
and i am not prepared to wait until march!
i called my local store up to find that there was ONE left. on reservation. which ended on store closing, today.
basically it ended up in me asking why i cant purchase the wii if it gets to closing time and they havent turned up. ended in tears as its probably been sold now anyway so. :cry:

There is definitley always tomorrow! try calling them every couple of hours you may have to travel to get one. I am positive you will source one like you said they are coming back in dribs and drabs. Also there is an MSN messenger account somewhere in the posts that allows you to get quick stock updates so also worth keeping that option open! But in my opinion it is better if you can get one in your hand. Let us know how you get on tomorrow! good luck!

mm yeah, im against online orders as such. purely because i dont know whether i can trust it to be here on time. it might take time otherwise, but i'll get one - and it'll be worth it.

I went to my local Argos store this morning and had no luck - was told to try again on Wednesday. Tried the Customer Services Number as mentioned above and none in stock anywhere near me. They told me to try again in 5 days. Again, very helpful (apart from not getting me a Wii!) :cry:

Anyone else having any luck?

oh, basically yesterday i chased up a wii that had been reserved by someone (on the phone to argos whom told me there were none in stock but one on reserve til the end of the day) it went closing time yesterday and i asked if i could buy it and they said no basically.
I thought i had no chance because it goes back into stock online & the reservation service stock over the phone. At 6pm i called and it was in stock but not available for reservation so i held out til morning.
I got to the Argos store that was showing in stock and called the over the phone stock checker and it was in stock, made sure i was first there, and brought it, over the counter.
:o SUCH a good feeling.
i love it. i only have wiisports and wiiplay. but so addictive!
im just making sure my brother doesnt go too over the top though, his tennis skills might just break the TV :shock:

That's great news! so glad you managed to get it and it is such a great feeling when you get your hands on it!!! Although I have mine it is wrapped up waiting for my birthday :( Where did you get your Wii Play from? That is one thing i need to get.

Wiiplay was from Game! I was surprised they had it in - i had to ask.
Basically Game have everything other than the console :)

Well my birthday is in a couple of days so not long to wait, I am sooo dying to test drive the Wii but best things comes to those who wait i guess!
Wii Play is probably a bit more easier to source than the console itself. I'll keep searching!!!
