I keep hearing about this and a wii card or something. Is this worthwhile or just a shite loyalty scheme to keep you playing ?

i think its where you can buy points from a games shop or wherever and you can use the points to buy old nintendo games and play them on your wii!

WiiPoints are the currency used in the systems "Virtual Console" (VC) application, amongst other things
The VC allows Wii owners to download & play titles from earlier Nintendo console releases, including the N64, SNES & NES systems. The price of these downloads is dependant on the system which the game was released for. For example, I believe N64 releases are in the region of 1000-1500 points per title, SNES are lower at around 600-800 per title, with the NES games coming in cheaper still.
I haven't yet looked into the exact pricing structure for the games, but the point to note is that WiiPoints are just the Wii version of cash - you buy a card (£14 for 2000 points) & spend those points on whichever games and/or services you wish to buy via WiiConnect etc.
Edit: Methinks I took too long writing this long-winded reply lol, I se a few of you have beaten me to it!
