Might have been something to do with the fact that you bought all the available stock

that was funny!

they were probably all reserved by people phoning?

bet your profits have gone down a bit...don't think its a bad thing to make some money on a wii if its reasonable...some people really cannot be bothered to go and find themselves one...and if they've got the money to spare...thats their call

I agree.

I can't quite believe the prices that have been achieved on eBay! I see WiiPlay is also chaning hands above RRP.

Just spoke to a local Game store and they confirmed they had 6 in at midday and sole the lot within minutes!

WiiFind has found a couple of sites that are still selling WiiPlay with a controller. So there's no need to pay above the odds on Ebay. Here's a link to our Games Section (http://wiifind.co.uk/wii_games.html)

There seems to be a point missed here which is the fact that if people like you weren't buying the bloody consoles (I assume you already have one for yourself and hence have absolutely no need for another except to squeeze others for more money than they should have to pay) then people wouldn't be forced to go to ebay because those who didn't have a console stood a far better chance of getting one in the shops.

Profiteering, pure & simple. You aren't providing a "service" although doubtless you think you are, you're nothing more than a rip-off merchant.

And i want to add that i think youre a shameful excuse for a person. My 7 year old brother wanted a Wii for Xmas which i couldnt get for him.I accepted this as i knew demand would be high but fully expected to be able to get one at normal RRP within a couple of weeks, which i havnt.I hope you feel good about yourself making £50 per console out of people with no opntion while my little brother has to listen to his friends in school telling him how much fun theyre having with theirs...

You wouldnt find it so hilarious if every day when you arrived home from work your 7 year old brother asked if youd got his Wii for him yet.How about you come to mine for dinner and explain to him that people like you are one of the reasons he cant talk join in conversations with his school buddies about their Wii's??

I see your point, however sco77harris is just exploiting an inefficient market. Happens everyday at City trading desks, the only difference being your trading against people who know the rules and not young children.

I don't find it very clever that you go through all this work for a pitiful £50 a day (assuming you get a consle everyday.) Not including the costs of travelling, shipping and all the phone calls

You should re-think your business model.

im a student in sixth form and luckily money is not a great worry for me but i like selling things etc its in my nature.

i am making about 50 pounds a day at the moment, and its useful for me as it goes into the bank and i earn 8% interest.

i understand your brother is upset but patience is something people need to learn as they grow and as i said i have already mentioned anywhere i know that has them to help you guys.

and as i said rudeness is just not appropriate when in effect i have not directly harmed or attacked u in any manner.

96jokenn I am amazed you still have not found a wii?...have you been phoning your local Game stores after the bundle one I found for you was too much??....you do have to make a point of phoning from 8:45am onwards and the guy in the Bromley High Street was very helpful...as for ebay...to be honest...its really the retail stores fault where this is concerned...people like Tesco etc who sell to first come first served...just as bad as someone just so happens to be wandering in Tesco and is lucky enough to be there at the right time...not fair on those who have been phoning every day...if this guy goes to the bother of getting up early and buying a wii...remember he can only buy one from each store...then there is no reason why people who really want a wii cant do the same...you will find a store that will hold one for you...just need to be organised and be on the ball...ebay serves a purpose for those who cannot be bothered at all and dont mind paying over the odds...if the retailers were fair in their selling policies...then most people who want one...would be able to get one...good luck Joe!

The most expensive Wii I saw on Ebay was £2,000.

Some newbie ebayer bought it, and then realised how much it actually was.. I think he thought it was £200 or something - I thought this was really funny.

The jist of it is that the new ebayer now has -1 feedback score, and has been accused of being a typical newbie timewaster, while the seller has been accused of being a theif

Make of this what you will

I was lucky, I knew the Manager at my local game, as I'm in there quite a bit when new stuff comes out. I managed to get one a week before christmas....

I think that it is disgusting that there were people on Ebay selling 10 to 20 of them... How the hell did they get that many?

And as for the ones who got theirs free from one of the incentive places, they shouldn't be allowed to sell them at all! It undermines the whole thing.

Oh well, theres always the PS3 to grab as many as possible of.

Now now now... leave the guy alone. If you can honestly think that before Xmas you could have bought two or three Wii's and made enough profit to get your own for FREE and would'nt have done it then your not being honest with yourselves..

I tried and managed to only get one and the trauma to get my own was enough to put me off trying to find more to sell on at a profit.

This guy isn't the problem, its basically bad management on the retailers and Nintendo's behalf. The real scum are the "proper" retailers who are forcing people into buying "packaged" systems or slighty over RRP. (which Nintendo will surely slap down on). How many Wii's do you think have gone to staff of retailers and then onto WiiBay (S%$t loads!) I know of several staff who had numerous Wii's for sale on WiiBay as they could use the conmpanies "internal" staff ordering processes to get theirs (Currys / Comet / Dixons group).

I myself work for Harrods and they stopped staff from buying any Wii related hardware / software untill the 1st of Jan 2007 (v.noble and exactly what I expected from them). Just don't beat up on a random guy for trying to make an easy buck.... fair play to you sir.... 50 pounds for someone else to source a Wii is not that much... better than a crappy 4x4 game and some over random stuff which a retailer bumps in for £100.

Scott, there's no excuse for what you're doing. How do you have the free time to get to all these shops at 8 in the morning?

I'd do it If I wasn't a slave to the wage from 9 to 5 everyday :(

I plan to pre-order as many PS3's as I can get my hands on though, then flog 'em on ebay for easy money.

Although I must admit that I'm slightly jealous that he can actually find a Wii, I've had bugger all luck so far.

im not a ***** in fact very clever

Ignoring the irony of that sentence structure, buying Wiis and selling them on for £50 over the RRP, while entrepreneurial, hardly makes you "very clever". Writing a script that automatically monitors sites AND buys any Wiis when they come into stock might elevate you to "quite clever" but I think you're overestimating the brilliance of your endeavour at the moment...

Lol yeh im tempted to flog ps3s on eBay... Wouldn't do it with the Wii tho, cos i know how many people on here are after them. Plus they're ****ing hard to get hold of neway!
sco77... why don't you sell some to people on this forum? (at a fair, less than 50quid profit)

No, I wouldn't order three or four (or more) because I'm not interested in profiteering, and even then, the likeliness of me making money from it is doubtful, as I have never had much luck selling stuff for profit.

All I will say is that I am now considering doing so with the PS3.... People might be moaning about the price of the top model being about £600, but I am looking at it like this.

£600 gets me a console and a Blu-Ray DVD player.... whereas I could buy a Blu-Ray player now for a minimum of £800+ - and I REALLY want to play Final Fantasy 7 again, but as I spent a flipping fortune on the Wii (I bought the massive bundle from Game) and have come to realise that I don't like Red Steel, Monster 4x4, Super Monkey Ball AND Call of Duty 3, I will not be spending another £100 on a PS2 to play the games...

The only thing that pees me off with the Wii is the problem of it not being designed as an ambidextrous unit - Super Monkey Ball might say press B if your left handed but the controls for it are ****, pure and simple... half the time the cursor doesn't move, and another quarter of the remaining half is spent screaming at the cursor and screen because said cursor has frozen in the top right corner of the TV...

Grrrr. I rate my Wii 8/10.... It loses a point for the "right handed" only style of gaming - especially seeing as left handedness is increasing at a rate of about 2% per annum globally. It also loses a point because there is no way to organise the main menu - I have games all over the place and Wii system tools like the Opera Browser in the middle of them all. Add to this the fact that the Game Cube ports aren't well constructed and the fact that some of the DL games can't be fully copied over to the SD card, and the fact that you choose where to save the DL games.

Nintendo need to make a firmware update now to combat these issues.

Lastly, I am not surprised to learn that Harrods stopped you, a staff member, from buying a console before christmas..... And let me say it has nothing to do with being noble - it has everything to do with the company wanting to sell them to customers who DON'T get any staff discount (and if you don't get staff discount then your job is crap, even if it is the 'best' store in London)

Do that and let us know if you get banned!

Seriously though - make out that you want to spend some serious money - £400 sort of thing - then they'll put you at the top of the list.

Basically, the more you'll spend, the higher up the tree you get.
