Wii or PS3?

Ok people time for a big poll. Which is better, wii or PS3? The choice is yours and i trust you all to make the right one, but please explain why you have made that choice.

I do like the Playstation but if i had a option to buy 1 of the 2 i would have to choose the Nintendo Wii for what it does, its different to the other consoles

ps3 don't seem to be all that popular. i chose wii because to be honest all these fancy graphics are very nice but i want next gen gameplay as well and with the control system i feel the wii has the potential to do that

i was told with the ps3, when you buy games they digitally code themselves to the individual ps3, making you unable to lend games to fellow ps3 owners or even trading them in! what a stupi :shock: d idea that is

yeh i think they are, but places like game & gamestation who heavily rely on trade-ins are gonna be screwed over bigtime, and the price, WOW, 6 or 7 hundred? no thanks! sony are just rip-off merchants! if you want extreme hd gameplay buy a 360, my bro has got one and the graphics are awesome! (dont stop him playin on the Wii 99% of the time tho :D )

from what i've heard, ps3 are the worst of the 3 main new consoles (360, Wii, PS3). xbox is exactly the same lol!

yeah, especially as the wii is 180 the xbox360 is 250 and the expected price of the ps3 with a 20Gb HDD is in the 700's, with the extra 500 that you have to spend you would at least think that the case is 24carat gold or something? lol :D

well the thing about games being locked to one ps3 is untrue.

The ps3 does have better graphics nd processing power, but I went for the Wii for a few reasons, firstly the price, it's much cheaper than the others.

OK the graphics aren't as good as on the PS3 or 360, but IMO graphics aren't the most important factor in a console, gameplay is the most important factor to consider and the gameplay of the wii is amazing, Nintendo are revelutionising videogaming and making it appeal to a much wider audience (your mum will now play a game with you).

Most avid videogamers won't buy a Wii just because they "dont want to be waving their hands around like idiots" but they're just getting it wrong and buying into the fad that ps1 was a revolution in gaming, then ps2 was an amazing invention and think ps3 will be the best, I'm not buying into it, remember the days of NES, SNES, Mega-drive etc. really poor graphics in comparison to today's, but we still enjoyed them thoroughly.
A good looking game is worth nothing if you dont enjoy playing it.

ye odhranus i just found out today about the ps3 not coding their disks, good job. i also found out that on one of their games (apparently the only release title thats not pants) has been played by this guy for over 300hours and he's not close to finishing it. i think the amount of hours is a little exaggerated, but basically the games do go on for ever and their graphics will be good.
i'm not defending them or anything, wii still is better.

i stand corrected, sorry for the misinformation, i was told by a couple of guys who work in gaming stores up rotherham way, well tht is a couple of gd things towards the ps3, even though i would never buy one (too much money & i'm not gonna jump on the ps3 blueray bandwagon!) Wii i the best gameplay about, even my bro's 360 is nothing on gameplay, they went all out on the graphics.. but forgot to make a decent, playable game! :D

I voted that there both just as good. The reason for this is that they both offer something diffrent. I find the Wii is great fun when you have people round for multiplayer. On the other hand PS3 would be great for when your half dead on the couch whith a hangover from hell. The last thing you need when your that rough is to be jumping round like a mad man on Wii Sports.

Tbh I think PS2 has a couple of years left in it yet and the Wii is great. They both produce good graphics. The PS3 or XBox hasn't produce anything that has really wow'd me so why spend that sort of money?

Too much is made of graphics, my PS2 still produces the goods for me and my Wii is something completely different. It's all I need.

Made the PS2 a bit better ?!?!?! the PS3 is the most advanced next gen console FACT. I have a Wii and absolutely love it but once the PS3 is under £250 in a few years time and has a catalogue of games I would happily trade my Wii for it. I have owned most console and to be fiar FF7 + Metal Gear solid on PSone and Pro evo 6 on PS2 are my fave all time games.

I am very glad it seems Nintendo have taken ground back but it still doesnt mean the PS3 can catch up ! Ninty need to make more games, it's as simple as that otherwise punters like me will get bored. And before you bash me I am neither a Nintendo fanboy or Sony fanyboy, i just love great games.

I think both will do well over time but I went for Wii because it is fun, exciting, revolutionary cheap which are most important for me unlike the PS3 is some think we have seen from Microsoft with a blueray drive.

Ben, there's nothing wrong with liking the PS3 as well as the Wii, IMHO both machines have their advantages & disadvantages.

As a rough guestimate though, I reckon I spend more time on the Wii, :-D

I've not got a PS3 but I'll be honest if money was not a factor and I had a choice between the 2 I'd got for a ps3. But money is a factor so for now wii is keeping me occupied untill ps3 are more reasonably priced.

You miss the point. The point in having a license is to enumerate what can and cannot be done. Developers can choose to grant exemptions or relicense for a specific client or store, as presumably was the case with iD/Wolf3D, otherwise they by default have the follow the license terms. If Apple had sought/was granted such an exemption, there would be no problem. They didn't, so the terms of the GPL should have applied. It sounds like an insulation, just like an hdmi cable, or speaker wire, it just doesn't seem useful in a phone or an iPad. Unless they continue with the current antanna design they could use it for insulation. Don't know how far does brazilian blogs matter to you all, but one of them(which I really trust) has compared both versions, and they are pretty much the same. Couldn't it be something related to the mass production factor? Sorry. Thought the videos and pictures showed that there was still light it reflects. I'm doing a con point. There is really nothing but attract fingerprints like crazy and not really to reduce glare.
