Private messages

[Wii Spark]

Recently there have been a couple of members (now banned) who have been targeting forum members via private messages, which at first glance make you believe your computer is sending out spam and threatening that member with expulsion.

These messages are another method by which saddos are trying to promote other websites in which they have a vested interest. If you receive one, then please forward the message to any of the mods (huzzellio, munkle, thelocaluk or myself wii spark) who will then ban the originator of the message. Do not click on the link in the message.

I have received a few of these now. My last message (received last night) reads:

Subject: Immediate Action Required!

Spam sending from your computer was detected.
We highly recommend you to check your computer and perform online virus check at our site immediately:
*dodgy site url entered here*
If you do not pass this test* we will have to delete your account and forward a complaint to your ISP with attached log file (your IP address, etc.).

As Sparky has already said, anything vaguely along these lines is a hoax so report them to a mod as soon as possible.

It's just a shame that these spam bots have found a way through our image capture on registration. :mad:

I had a message like that when I logged in a minute ago. I just deleted it.
