Okay, so that subject header could be rearranged better, but you get the idea. What games are you currently playing and what are your impressions on them?

There may be a thread similar to this, but let's make a fresh start eh? Saves finding it too .... ;)

These days I have been mostly playing:

Dead Space: Extraction.
Scarface.
Bonsai Barber.
1080 Snowboarding.

Dead Space: Extraction is a masterclass in game design, technically stunning and possibly the best shooter to grace the Wii so far. Story mode is an epic treat for all sci-fi fans, whilst the ten Challenge Modes are intense and insanely addictive. The term 'on-rails' can often be seen as derogatory and does this game no justice at all. Guided it may be, but this is still one game you must experience to appreciate. 9/10.

Scarface is a couple of years old now and shows signs of age graphically, and doesn't really live up to the aesthetic standard set by The Godfather: Blackhand Edition, though the locations can - at times - be rather pretty with some nice lighting effects and an absorbing city to explore. This game is also huge, challenging, extremely addictive and includes an absolutely brilliant and diverse soundtrack (from metal to country to RnB etc) and lots of extras to unlock. It's also very violent, packed with swearing and, in other words, a true homage to the movie. 8/10.

Bonsai Barber does exactly what WiiWare promises; it delivers a unique experience unlike any other game you have played. It may be a game about cutting vegetables hair, but the 40+ styles on offer and achievements system will keep you playing for a long time. This is possibly the best example of innovative game design and should feature in your collection if you enjoy zany, surreal and fun games for all the family. Also, 2 players can co-operate to shape those funky hairstyles meaning this is not just fun for solo players, but a great family game too. Zoonami should be commended for their efforts. 10/10.

1080 Snowboarding is still arguably the most realistic snowboarding game to date. It truly provides an authentic experience that all wannabee boarders will find enjoyment in. Originally an N64 title, it has aged very well, the courses are resplendant with beautiful lighting and particle effects, well-designed courses and game modes that will keep you returning to the game well after you have defeated the Versus mode. Other modes are Time Trial, Stunt (for each individual course as well as a half pipe and ski jump) and a downhill slalom style mode which compiles your score over three courses and also half-pipe and ski-jump courses. Objectively, the fact that there are only 6 courses may be off-putting to some, as well as the controls for the stunts being quite difficult to master. 8/10.

great thread munkle

heres a bit of a different view!

one handed gaming (with the wrong hand at that)

im ashamed to say that of late my wii has been gathering dust:( not really the wii's fault as the ps3 is even dustier lol ive just lost my gaming mojo (it's a first for me so im finding it a little hard) anyway endless days off work = boredom so ive bought the wii back down stairs for the first time since zach wee'd on it lol it was mainly to keep him occupied and give me a bit of a quiet life (no such luck lol)

anyway back on topic

wii sports

set it up for zach to have a bowl but ended up finding how great i am at right handed baseball! never one of my favourite wii sports before but much fun has been had of late!

carnival games

ive been laughed at and critized so much in the past for loving this game (yep loving not liking) but after completing it 100% i hadn't given it a thought for ages! again dug it out for zach to try and ended hogging the wiimote for most the day:D great family fun and for a tenner theres so much to unlock and such different uses of the wiimote i fail to see how you can't enjoy this game?

poo yous (wiiware)

a learning game aimed at 3 year olds

after playing baby poo yoos once zach went straight for the big poo yous (lol) a very short and quiet repetitive game but it's done it's job of getting zach into the wii!
theres a couple of games included

first up birst the bubbles (baby version you just shake the wiimote big version you aim ans shoot and have to avoid certain colours)
then theres a shape match game (aim at the animal that fits the hole and drop it in)

saddly this is where most the fun ended for zach:( next up are two dancing levels which have no wii interaction in them at all really. you just basical copy the dance moves off the screen and thats that (would have been good to have some use of the wiimote in there)

last up is a little strange more like a short cartoon then a game but with different buttons doing different things on the screen. again zach enjoyed it first time round but hasn't been back since!

was it worth 500 wiipoints? probably yes as zach seems to have picked up other stuff quite quickly after playing for a while and even designs his own mii's now!

before accident

the conduit

as ive said ive lost my gaming mojo but even so i had high hopes for the conduit, saddly the game let me down and i just struggled to get into it. it will probably be the first game ive ever traded as im hoping to switch it for wii sports resort. every time i tried to go online it put me in the same type of game (streets level with explosives) now if most conduit gamers want to play that level with those weapons thats fair enough but surely you should have a choice in the matter? very frustrating indeed. i can honestly say that ive had a 100 times more fun with wiiware FPS onslaught and waterwarfare (which for the amount of hype the conduit got thats not good:mad:)

I seriously can't believe there is a game called
Bonsai Barber where you cut hair from vegetables......Wow...!!
10/10 as well...
I don't know if that is awsome or just odd....:D

Dead Space sounds good though..
I think I remember that being advertised when it was released..
Is it a fairly new game Munkle...???

Hilly..I know what you mean about losing your mojo..
especially if you've played alot..

I haven't played in a while though so I'm looking forward to sticking
my head in the gaming barrel and drowning in code...:-D

I'm definitely liking WiiSports at the moment though...
10/10 for that..
I think I might take Huzz's advice and buy the new one...

Yeah, Resort is infinitely better than the original (which was also great for the time). It has so many events as well as different variations of the events. The achievement system also adds loads of depth to the game.

Resort is down on my Christmas Wish List. Fingers crossed someone is kind enough to order me it!

Think I might go through Eledees again, it has a brilliant level creator on there. Shame I don't know anyone who has it and could exchange levels with.

I bought WiiSportsResort yesterday....:p
I had a go last night..
Pretty damn good so far...

So far I've tried..

Golf.....Pretty good...Harder than the wii sports version..will take a bit of getting used to
I reckon..but you get the full 18 holes..the slice and hook feature means you have to be
careful with your shots..7/10 so far but if I get better I'll probably rate it more..

Archery....I really liked this but I didn't play for long..Targets get further away and you
need skill and judgement for wind and distance..10/10

I can't remember what it's called but you fly around in an aeroplane over all the islands
that the game is set on collecting info rewards..I loved this, the controls are really
responsive..you only get 5 mins per flight though...It looks like there is loads of
hidden stuff here..(I hope so anyway).....only played this 3 times so far but 10/10..

Quick go on the wave racer thing too but I couldn't control it so I don't like it yet
(no patience)...

Glad you're enjoying it Ivan :D

The plane event is called Island Flyover and you are right, there is LOTS of hidden stuff!! I'm certain there must be something to collect inside the volcano but I keep crashing before I can look lol.

Best event for me is table tennis, it's amazingly responsive!

Haven't played Water Warfare for a while but it is brilliant. Hope your voice has recovered!!! Lol!

Back to the subject of Bonsai Barber, I have now won two of their monthly art competitions, so that's a total prize of 4000 Wii Points so far! Woot woot!

Am currently playing Super Mario Galaxy again and getting a lot further than I did with it the first time round.

I also have Animal Crossing on the go but haven't played it for a few weeks.
Also Cursed Mountain (now renamed in our house to Scary Hill) almost complete but had to stop because of arm being a bit poorly. Hopefully be able to finish it soon. The sound on this is turned quite low as I found it to be a little too creepy, especially in the early hours of the morning when all was quiet.

Wario Shake Dimension, again started and not completed. I must start finishing games instead of just having a quick look at new ones and then forgetting about the part done ones.

Little Kings story which I haven't yet started. Bought on Munkles advice.

Wii Sports Resort which I think is great, but haven't played for about 3 weeks or so. So glad I bought the extra motion plus controller for this then I could use multi-player. Love most of the games on this except for the cycling which I think is both daft and boring. You can't half tell the difference with the motion plus though. I haven't been very good at table tennis - in fact I was absolute rubbish, but with the motion plus I can play it reasonably well. Am rubbish at golf in this though, yet in Wii Sport I was brilliant right from the beginning. Really enjoy doing the island flyover but can't find 2 of the I symbols yet.

Got Wii Fit Plus which is still sealed (being lazy).

I think that's all I am playing at the moment, but if I go through my games I will find plenty more part done ones. Think I'm going to have to make it a New Years Resolution to complete all games before I start on any new ones. Bet it doesn't last long.

Never mind, when you are 90 odd you will be able to do the same to Zach and put it down to old age or even simple bloody mindedness

This week I have been mostly playing Beetle Adventure Racing (N64) and Tomb Raider Underworld. The former arguably the greatest and most fun racer to date, the latter a beautiful and creepy adventure and a fab follow on to Anniversary.

Also just completed Majora's Mask this week. Perhaps my favourite Zelda, easily as good as Ocarina of Time.

Oh, and been playing Yoshi's Story too on VC. Another classic :)

Same here Suze. Trying to finish games off and spend more time on ones I have. Emma has bought me an N64 back for Xmas (after my ex sold mine and all my games through spite) with over 20 games so I'm going to be very busy in the New Year with games to play. I've missed the N64 like crazy so I can't wait to get back into it. So may as well get as many out of the way now.

i got mine out recently but struggled to tune it into the tv for some reason:confused:

im having an internal struggle at the moment over modern warfare! after not realy getting my monies worth out of codWAW and only turning on the conduit about four times im worried it will be a waste of money? but hearing everyones opinions im sorely tempted lol

one game i will be getting on release is new supermario bros:D i think i'd actualy camp out to get this game:cool: theres no way i can wait for santa no way at all!!!!!

Rest assured, if Treyarch have done an accurate job in porting the game to the Wii (which apparently they have) then you will have no worries. It's head and shoulders above both WaW and The Conduit in terms of campaign. And as an extra bonus, the game features a ton of online maps.

I sold The Conduit early on and never completed WaW on either version of the game.

Whats an N64. Yeah, I know, but I haven't played games much in the past. I did have a Gameboy Advance but only really played Tetris on it and then gave it away to a needy child.

Does anybody ever trade games or do you all just mostly keep them and build up a game library.

I haven't played on the wii for about 3 weeks now, bit am in the middle of Mario Galaxy, Cursed Mountain, Wii Sport Resort and a few others. I am trying to finish the part done games before I start on any new ones. Trouble is, if I get a new game I just want to try it for a few minutes and then thats it and all the others get left on one side, so now I just won't buy any until I have cleared my backlog.
