Christmas is coming early this year, as Nintendo has announced the Metroid Prime trilogy will be coming out on a single disc for the Wii in August.

The disc will include Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, but will have an updated control scheme for the first two games to make them compatible with the Wii's motion-sensing technology. Apparently, these earlier entries into the trilogy will feature some other unspecified enhancements, though widescreen presentation has been confirmed. Finally, the games will all feature a new unlockables system, allowing players to earn digital rewards like music and artwork by accomplishing objectives.

For fans of the Metroid games, this is undoubtably exciting news, as it will update some of their favorite titles and make them feel fresh again. For those who are new to the series, though, having all three games on a single disc for a reasonable price is is a great introduction to the universe of Samus Aran.

Oh wow, thanks for that gem of info' Local. These are must buys for me this year. Loved the first, have been after the 2nd, and still not got round to buying the 3rd, so this is ideal :D

I'm not in the know on how much they can fit on those discs but all 3 games is pretty impressive.

Metroid M has really revitalised my enthusiasm in the series. It looks AWESOME! :D To be honest I'd held off on buying Metroid 3, and now I'm pleased as I'll be able to have the whole series on one shiny disc! Woo yeah! ;)
