if you have a reservation number they are not allowed to sell apparently !!

Just wanted to post and say thanks for the info listed in this forum. I managed to get a Wii from my local Argos with the information listed in the thread. It was the only one in the store so was really lucky :D

It was the first store I tried so was really surprised that they had one and drove stright there to get it - they didnt allow me to reserve, and didnt tell me how many they had~ just said it was in stock in store!

So was really lucky I think - For everyone else keep trying ~ they are about, but need to be quick.

It clearly depends where you are. I have tried phoning most days using the number and the local store numbers with no luck in Dundee and Arbroath.

Today the girl on phone said that Nintendo are really at it as they have 3 times now had a delivery date for stock coming into the wharhouse only for Nintendo to fail to produce the goods.

On another note I managed to get one before xmas from Woolies site just ordering online and picking up at the store on 8th Dec. However when I spoke to the guy he said I was very lucky as they had been told of thousands going missing apparently stolen en masse between Nintendo and the wholesalers. Who says crime doesnt pay.

Unfortunately after my own little girl saw the wii I had bought for my neice (despite her getting what she wanted a DS lite in pink!) she has badgered me for a wii. Hence I am on this bloody site daily trying to find another one.......!

Just keep trying on the central number .... as soon as it opens daily.

I rang them at 9:05 this morning, they open at 9.

I just asked to check for any anywhere near me (Edinburgh) and she found one in Dunfermline (20 min drive for me .... thats the one I got) and one in Perth (another 30 mins up the road). The Perth one may even still be there .... who knows!

Picked it up mid-morning .... with a copy of Call Of Duty 3 (best available in the same store to get the tenner off).

Evan managed to get hold of Wii Play and extra controller in local Virgin store (2 x Game, 2 x Tesco, 2 x Comet and 1 x Currys were all out of stock of those).

Well pleased .... Argos is the way to go. Have tried Game (all Edinburgh stores) and got nowhere.

i am really glad to say i got my nintendo wii today from argos, marble arch, london. I did not hold out a lot of hope having already telephoned several game stores from 8.45 am and as usual no stock, i had a read what was going on on the forum and thought maybe i will just try argos customer services the 0870 number option 4. i could not believe my luck when she searched london as a whole and it seemed several stores had them which was about 9.15 am. by the time she had convinced me that i really had a reservation number and she also telephoned the store to confirm the stock availability, she advised me at the end of our call all stocks where then showing reserves on them, so i guess the were a good few happy londoners today. the lady i spoke to was extremely helpful and hope all you nintendo wii people will also be able to get yours soon. :D :D :D

i'm in london too but don't have much time on my hands, how much effort will it take to get one off argos, is it really tight or after a few mornings trying might i be able to secure one if i call in the morning. worth trying your think?

like i said in my previous thread, did not think i had any chance at all, but using that 0870 number this morning worked for me, she told me the reservation was mine until wednesday next, but i went today of course could,nt possibly wait that long, the only issue we had NOT WITH ARGOS. was we took the car as online it said there was a car park nearby. on the edgware road. and it cost us 7.90 to park. we were only there for about 20 mins, but they charge a minimum of 2 hours. still never mind it was worth it.

Depends how close to you they can find one.

Five minute phone call .... but has to be pretty much as soon as their 0870 number opens in the morning. I tried loads of times in the later morning/afternoon and never got anywhere.

That was the first time I tried the early call and I got one and there was another within (to me) an acceptable distance. I was willing to drive up to an hour away to get one so it gave me a lot of options.

does Argos open Sundays (Im in Scotland) and can you phone on Sunday at 9 and check ? on that note is Game open as well ? and do they get deliveries on Sundays ?

Sunday 9-5 (although, that page says saturday is 8-5 but it was shut with a message saying 9 when I tried at 8:30 this morning). It's the number ending 3030 you want.

No idea about Game ....

Customer Services (Option 4) is not open Sundays.
Chose 1 and spoke to Home Delivery and she checked and said there is nothing in stock. Said that although they were told end of the month they have been getting dribs and drabs this week and that I should call at 8am each morning to check. Oh well. Off we go again !
