Okay, I like the Wii, I really do. I also like the 'get your friends and family to play too' ethos, but oh my god, the advertising that gets implemented for most of their games make me feel uncomfortable!
Whether it's the father emulating being a monkey, stupid friends with fake grins welded to their faces playing Wii Music or the complete wet drip of a man playing Animal Crossing who says "hey Claire, where did you get that fish", it makes me want curl up and jab a screwdriver into my eye from sheer embarrassment.
Does it make anybody else feel like this (not necessarily the screwdriver thing though, I suspect that's just me) :D

They are awful, the celeb ones are so fake.
Yeah, I agree too, but I think a screwdriver in the eye isn't quite strong enough. The ads are so embarrassing they are beyond belief. I've got to say, I think the worst one has been the Animal Crossing for the wii which they advertised just before Christmas. It was absolutely dreadful and it now makes me wary of admitting I've got the game in case people think we are all like that ad. Talk about sugary sweet, it made me want to puke.

Got to agree Huzz. Some of those adverts make me want to puke. There was one for a safari game where the family were dressed in the stereotypical safari gear, creeping around their living rooms like total gimps. If only they'd bring a game out where we could shoot these annoying families with the Wii Zapper. I think it'd sell a ton ;)
I think that family in the safari ad went on to hide behind the settee when they saw a crappy looking lion or something. If only they'd have stayed there and hidden their heads in shame.
Didn't Nintendo win some sort of marketting award for these ads? I'm certain of it.
They probably think it's their good advertising what sells the games when in actual fact they are just wasting their money as people will automatically buy anything what looks half decent without the embarrassing advertising.
I wonder if Nintendo ever look at any of these forums?

I'm pretty sure it was this very ad that had the father pretending to be a monkey. Unbelievable!
Seriously, it's actually at the point where I go into my local branch of Game and hand over a Wii title, and I can feel the bloke staring at me as if to say "oh, you're one of THEM are you". I end up babbling to him "no no no, I'm not honestly, I've never worn a safari suit in my life, I don't even like monkeys!! I have an XBox too, honestly! Please don't judge me!"
It's amazing how I almost feel like I need to justify myself to the person serving me and that I've never even met before about my gaming habits. I shouldn't have to feel like that when I'm buying a game for such a great machine.

Lol! I wouldn't worry too much about what the person in Game thinks of you, he probably goes home and dresses up as Elvira or something ;)
Though I don't think the adverts do anything for Nintendo or us, I wouldn't ever feel anything but proud to be buying Wii games ... But then I order all mine from Amazon! Lol! ;)
It's a bit worrying if the ads are putting people off actually buying games though. I wonder if they're aware of that.
