Remotes in Hong Kong - compatible?

A friend of mine is going to Hong Kong on business next week, and has offered to look for a Wii Remote and Nunchuk over there. I have two questions...

1) Will an overseas Remote and/or Nunchuk work on a UK machine? Software I can understand will have region protection - but what about hardware?

2) Does anyone have any clue how much a Remote and Nunchuk will cost in HK? Or, alternatively, how to find out how much they would be - I can't find any stores in HK with sites I can check out!

Just for the record~ I have got my extra controls from HK and it works fine on the UK Wii.

Far far cheaper to get it from there~ got 2 wiimotes and a nunchuck plus a Component (HDTV) Cable for less that £60.
