You'll have read all the rumours well Mr Iwata has now confirmed a new DS, due for release in Japan next month and in Europe by Spring 2009, the DSi won't essentially change the core gaming experience but will feature new media abilities including:
* Two 0.3 mega-pixel cameras - One externally and one in-between the two screens (capable of (640x480 resolution)
* SD Memory card slot
* The Dual screens have increased slightly from 3" to 3.25" diagonally
* MP3 Playability

It might just aswell be a chunky mobile :D I guess they felt they needed to catch up with the likes of Nokia given that Mobile phone gaming has come on in leaps and bounds, as such a touch screen phone pad is all thats missing now isn't it? I don't own a DS :eek: I just don't have the time for one.

It's cool that they're keeping up with the rat race, but I can't say those features would make me convert from the DS lite I already own. Obviously multimedia-fans will reap the benefits, but for technophobes like me I'll gladly stick to simply using the DS for gaming :D
Still, not quite the DS 2 a lot of people were probably expecting, with 40 screens and a crash helmet, or something :p

Too right you'll be sticking to the DS you already have, it's not even a year old yet and I bought it you for your birthday! :o
And anyway, you can buy me this one :p..... This looks okay but as Munks pointed out i'd only use mine for gaming too and I can't wait to get the DS Lite in black and red one, or the green..... ooh decisions (hint hint) :p...
Do you guys think you'll be interested in the New DS then?

Do you guys think you'll be interested in the New DS then?
I'll be interested to see how much the price of the current DS falls to when the new
one comes out..or do you think they'll just take all the current ones off the
shelves when it's released..?
I poked the touch screen too hard with the stylus on mine and cracked it...:mad:
£30 repair job I think..
Same as you guys..not enough features to make me really want it..
Has anyone seen the Sony Reader yet..?
They've got them on display in Waterstones....looks cool..

waste of time buying one of these imo unless they bring out better software for it, apart from that ill only be tempted if they do some kind of offer on them if you trade a dslite in

According to officialnintendomagazine.co.uk:
Nintendo's DSi launched in Japan over the weekend and it has already sold its initial allocation of 200,000.
100,000 more DSi consoles are set to be shipped in the country this week so more Japanese gamers will be able to get their hands on the handheld which is set for release in the UK next year.
Also, via wiiware-world.com:
New details about Nintendo's upcoming DSiWare service have recently come to light. The service will kick off in Japan in December 2008. There are already quite a few game packages that will be available for download including 6 Art Style DSiWare titles priced at 500 Wii Points each, as well as several Wario Ware micro game packages priced at 200 Wii Points each.
You'll even be able to use the new DSi camera to snap pics of you or your friends and put them into the game where you can build your own micro games using custom graphics and sounds. You can then load the games you create into the actual Wario Ware game and play them on your TV.
