There's a thread going on at the moment, re:
Mushroom madness
with regards to cheating.
So I thought I'd ask what's acceptable in a tourney and
what's not..
Any cheat that involves having to stop, turn around or fall off
on purpose or go round in circles are not fair on anyone,
but what about the corner cutters, i.e:

last bend on Toad's Factory with mushroom

left after start on Mushroom Gorge with mushroom (land on bridge)

Personally I don't mind others using them..
(I can only do the Mushroom Gorge one anyway)

I know there's plenty others,
What do you think??

mmm, tough one. i cant do most of the insane ones, just the ones that nearly all the guys use anyway so i guess its fair. ive never anyone in our tourneys take a shortcut that i couldnt take or ithoight was takeing the mick. most of the time you need a mushroom anyway which you never get at the right time/place

i'd the say the shortcuts in like, factory, snow board cross, heck even the bowser castle 3 one if you can pull it of.

Stuff like grumble volcano is just cheap imo

I think general things like cutting a corner with a mushroom is perfectly acceptable. I tend to get the feeling that Nintendo developed tracks in that way on purpose for people to work out the exploits. It adds to the fun of the game in my opinion.

Edit: Just seen the Grumble Volcano shortcut......definitely NOT acceptable!

Couldn't agree more, surely they design the courses to give people the opportunity of discovering all the secrets. But then some of these things are clearly a bit too far, Grumble Volcano being the best example.

The one on Bowser Castle 3 is too difficult to achieve successfully every time anyway, in my opinion.

I can't see the point in the ones where you reverse and fall off things just to win. Surely unintentional programming glitches shouldn't bring about rewards
