Hello there.

Just wanted to give mention to the German Amazon (amazon.de). I ordered with them and had no problems at all. Ordered on the 19th Dec and it arrived yesterday, but thats mostly due to the Festive period and the fact i live way way up north in Shetland (... doesn't help the old courier delivery speed!). I searched the net and found another person who had done the same thing who lived somewhere in England. Theirs was sent on the 19th Dec and they received it on the 22nd, so its fairly prompt generally.

Only have to get yourself a three-pin mains adaptor (less than a £1 from any hardware store kind of place).

Just had a look now and they are not currently in stock, but they have been for the past few weeks! One to keep your eye on if you are still looking for a wii

so if you buy outside the UK, then that mean's you still need to buy the game's outside UK as well?

as the Wii isnt region free is it?

I assume that as it's European and we're European then it compatible.

They are on DVD's, don't know about games but USA games definitely don't work on European machines.

I looked at powerplay direct before I got mine but when you look at the payment terms and conditions they take payment even when they are out of stock, unlike Amazon who charge you when they are about to dispatch so beware!!!

 connage!!

lucky ive not placed my order with them, im still on hold with Gameplay altho ive just read this on the Wii forum thread

"I preorderd mine when it was out of stock like the 21st of November and its being sent today so anyone who placed an order then or some other time close to that could be also have theirs sent Very Happy"

so it sound's promising, i placed my order late though with them not till the 15/12/06 so i might be lucky & get it before end of January

Within the EU, you don't get import taxes. Germany is the same region as the UK (region 2), but I don't know if Wii games are compatible. Regular video DVDs are.

well it's from the marketplace that much i managed to translate im still waitin on the full page translation from my friend will up date as soon she reply's to me :D

Regarding cost, came to £175.10 including postage.

No import taxes with countries within the EU, due to free movement of goods factor.

I've yet to try with a UK game, but its a PAL system... the only difference i've found with my German Wii and the UK Wii, is the 2 point plug (easily solved) and that the Wii sport stickers on the front of the main packaging has German not English on it (for obvious reasons). Everything else on the box, manuels and the rest of the insides is identical. A PAL game is a PAL game is it not? Not all that much strife if not though... will be cheaper from amazon.de games wise as well for me! :)

Cheers,
David

cool keep us all updated please?

possible post a short video ( if possible ) on youtube?

just done a quick currency check atm there selling Wii's for 309 EU so that work's out on this site as (http://www.forex.ch/converter.htm)

£208? as im not 100% sure on the exchange rate :? bah this is turning out to be far more hassle than it's worth tbh

northernlight

Not all that much hassle... I don't think they are in stock at the moment, so that price are people selling on Amazon, like everybody does over here... except not trying to leach £349 out of people. Today was the first day I had spotted they were not in stock since when i ordered... if in stock its no harder than ordering from Amazon UK... hey, .de even have your amazon details if you are registered over here.

Anywho.

I just had to reply to this.. The UK is also in Europe you know.. Any other country in Europe uses PAL, not just the UK. The Boxes just have different writing, and consoles different plugs.

It's 100% certain that you can use a PAL game on a "German Wii", because its not a "German Wii", only the box is German. It is a European PAL Version Nintendo Wii.

I think looking on Amazon.de is a great idea. Considering the marketplace Wii's on .co.uk are going for £350+, the ones on .de are about £220 if you convert the euros into pounds. Not too bad if you think about it. I ordered one earlier, came to about £220 which i know is more than the RRP in UK, but delivery doesnt take too long going by previous posts.
All depends on how quick you want one, and for an extra £40 it could stop you waiting for weeks on end.

that was my thought's on it but due to the mixed reply's over wiether the PAL game's will indeed run on it, have left me in 2 mind's

a few day's ago they were selling on DE for 309 euro so current exchange rate = £208 so yeh far cheaper than those shark's on ebay & other market site's

i allway's thought that the shiiping was free to EU?

this is a GREAT TOOL :D (http://www.google.co.uk/language_tools?hl=en)

here you go buddy use the above link to translate any PAGE :D

I'm 99% sure you can play the PAL games on it. Ive bought games in Europe before and they have fun on my PS1 and PS2, so i would presume that it would be the same for Wii.
If you look on amazon.de and look at the Wii games they sell, e.g. Zelda, and enlarge the image of the box covers, they say PAL on them so i would say that games from UK would be compatible with a console from Germany.

Not sure about shipping charges, i only got charged about 8 euros on my order...but not sure if they will charge me more later?

Oh cheers for the link as well.

I wasnt fortunate enough to get from amazon itself, got it from the marketplace in the end.
I will tell you how i get on with it when it arrives, hopefully next week fingers crossed!
I have emailed Nintendo as well about the compatibility issue, hopefully get an email back.

Well from the google translator it says "Again" but, it should be New. I translated neu in German to new in English.
