No hardware changes required, just a software install and off you go...

So if the hardware is already there surely Ninty can do an official update and give us all DVD movie playback on the Wii.

Has anyone tried this yet? I don't think I'd be willing to try this out just in case something untoward happens to our precious Wii.
To be honest I'd never buy a home console for a DVD player anyway, we have 3 in the house already and that's too many! ;) But I know some people expect this sort of thing as standard :)

I tried this yesterday, it sort of worked but not fully if you know what I mean.
First I tried Shawshank Redemption, which didn't want to load up at all. Too good for the Wii. ;)
So I tested out City of God: actually loaded up, got past the adverts crap but then I couldn't click start movie or whatever it says. Maybe I was being a idiot, but I clicked every buttons on the Wii-mote, or did I........
Last of all to give it a fair chance, I putted on Pulp Fiction and it worked perfectly fine, smooth as a duck. :D
