I've just had a quick look through the members list and it states this site has 2400+ members, about 10+pages are 1 post wonder people who have never logged on again since they registered so why are they still down as members? :confused:

I think imo, the site needs a clean up and members that have not been on for years should be deleted (email them if you need to, to notify them this is happening or even send an email asking them if they still want to be part of the site, if you get no reply then, delete them) but I do think it needs doing. :)

Not even half of this amount are actually 'members' most of them have not even posted a single thing, so again these should be deleted too because this doesn give a true reflection of how many people are actually members to this site. ;)

Wiifind is a great forum don't get me wrong, and maybe deleting these people is going to show that in actual fact this site doesn't have alot of members but if we get together and use some of the ideas that have been given about promoting the site, then the numbers could be high but with actual members and not false ones.

Some people may disagree but that's just my thought and wanted to share it :p

Maybe Wiifind should be promoted as a forum, and more time dedicated to setting up online competitions and things.

I agree, it's been alot better this last couple of weeks, apart from people registering and then not seeing them as a member :mad: (could be a problem with the site which you pointed out in a seperate post) but if we have more challanges like the MK and Brawl, get the site promoted I think it'll be flooding with members eventually! :D

But in all seriousness, we always used to concentrate on bringing back some of the older members, but it's obvious the way is forward, most of those people have probably moved on to other things, or are happily Wii-ing with one another elsewhere. Whatever the case, it's good to see those top posters still about today. All good people :)

And the cream of the crop (Local, Eric, Sparky, Huzzellio and the rest of you guys) are still about today, with the great newbies inter-mingling.

I enjoy scouting around the internet for news stories, so that's not a problem, mate :D If something interests me, I'm sure it's going to interest others, so why not share. You can appreciate ppl moving on, but it's good that you've remained here.

I agree with everything that has been said. I think the old 'one post wonders' should be removed.

I have to agree with Munkle and Local that the last few weeks has seen this place become a much better and more lively forum, not just in the amount of posts but in quality as well. There are some very good discussions going on now which is very encouraging.

I have to hold my hands up and say that I'd been guilty of posting very little recently because I didn't feel I had a lot to say, but some good discussion points will change that.

Well done to everyone (both old and new Wiifinders) for keeping the place alive :)

It's true, you've got to admit that at one point we just didn't have anything interesting to say. I genuinely think the Wii movement (and general development of the gaming industry) has led to some decent things to discuss of late. But behind that, a committment by members to actually put more effort in to it. I think that 'Wiifind is dead' discussion woke a lot of people up to what was happening. And luckily, it seems we may be averting that disaster.

When Wii is googled, the 1st thing that should appear is 'by the way, did you know that Wiifind rocks?' ;)

Keep the archives, but dispose of the old 1-post wonders. And how about some nice new colours or a new banner. Does that link at the top of the main screen actually lead anywhere? The 'win a wii' thing?

I don't think deleting one post wonders is such a good idea.

Imagine if you will a long standing thread, take for example How's your day (http://wiifind.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=2033), now there are over a thousand posts in that one thread alone, and maybe somewhere at the start of that thread there are a couple of posts from one post wonders.
Now imagine if admin came along and deleted all of the one post wonder members, what's going to happen to their posts? They'll disappear along with their member details, profile etc, etc, etc. After that the thread is going to destroyed as well because it won't be contiguous any more.
As junior mentioned these threads are full of memories, if you start to read the thread from the start there'll be gaps in the story, and it just won't make sense, like we're all suffering from amnesia.

It won't just be this one thread either it will happen to every thread with a one post wonder. I don't know how many will be affected, it could be just a couple of hundred but then again it could be close to a thousand or more.

So to be on the safe side I reckon to start with we delete those members who've joined and never been back to the forum since.

what id do is delete every member who signed up within the last month and hasnt bposted, then everyone one post wonder that signed up within 3 months and hasnt posted since... although is see your point wii spark

Couldn't agree more. These last two weeks have been brilliant. And the site is getting extremely addictive again :D It's great that everyone has stood by it, and the new members are shaping up to be mighty fine additions to the team ;)

I tell you what, this site needs cleaning up the staff members. I.e the administrators, moderators which haven't log in for the last month. The day when it has, Wiifind might reach it true potential.

No disrespect but why was it necessary to appoint another moderator? This forum, gets about 10 members a day and you already have like 20% of them staff members. I would totally understand if we had like a 100. :p

Yeah Bronze positon aint bad. But ben there was a time on the old forum when old members like Super Jario who was top no.1 with local no.2 and i think they may had more post than u not sure.


Also noticed Munkle getting Mod Job. Congratulation!!!!

But Just wondering(not being jealous or trying to start arguements,or saying you shouldn't be a mod) Why did he get mod job? I'm sure he will do a great job and cos hes active he'd be the buzz around here but surely the long existing members like me,Franksta and Eric and even Ben(who lost his and should get it back) should be on of those people to get one. We are the most active guys on the forum and one of the longest(I think I've been around longer than kate)members and we do keep the forum alive so why shouldnt we get one.

This site does get spammed very regularly. Most of you lucky people never see this rubbish because of WiiFind's brilliant team of moderators. The fact that some of you don't see the need for the moderators just means that they're doing a great job.

Anyway getting back to the subject, the redesign seems to be well on the way (from reading Kates post on wiifind2.0 have your say) should look fab when some of the great ideas are put to use! :p
And I agree, we got spammed not long ago and it was quickly removed by the fab mods we have here on wiifind, so great work mods, keep it up! You get a gold star in my book ;)
