EA's Medal of Honor series is about to do a Call of Duty 4 and move into a modern day war setting.

That's according to a report on French site Jeux Video (http://www.jeuxvideo.com/commentaires/9-0-27910-1-news_20080805-1-0-0.htm), which claims to have discovered the first info on Medal of Honor: Operation Anaconda in an EA questionnaire.

Operation Anaconda will be set in Afghanistan in 2002, says Jeux Video, where the real-life mission of the same name took place. At least it's not World War II.

The operation was apparently one of the "greatest disasters of modern history," ending with crashed helicopter and crew stranded in the Taliban-filled Afghan mountains.

According to the report, Operation Anaconda will put you in the role of multiple soldiers, including those involved in mortar and drone attacks, as well as snipers on the front line.

The report also promises "60 customisable weapons" for Anaconda, which sounds like an awful lot to us.

It all sounds believable enough, but unfortunately EA's UK office isn't answering the phone to give us it's "no comment" on the news. We'll let you know when or if it goes official.

Yay!! Welcome to the 21st Century MOH! with COD5 Rumoured to be Wii bound, it was only a matter of time, Jeux France are normally quite good with scoops so I personally have no reason to doubt what they've found out, confirmation of Wii Speak & Online play would be very much welcomed with open arms :D

Lmao!! We'll single-handedly rule the world! ;)

So, there should be plenty of cave exploration and getting lost from your comrades.

Surely now online will come as standard in these titles?? If not, I think they'll get widely ignored.

I really hope The Conduit lives up to the hype because it has the potential to set a standed by which all Wii games will be measured and push developers to deliver the goods, a bit like what COD4 has done for FPS on the other consoles.

@ben, :D

I second that, Local. I was reading Ngamer yesterday, they're a bit concerned it's going in the direction of more tech, less heart. Really hope it doesn't go down that route. But, stay positive and we may have - as you say - a title that sets the standard for others. And, imo, the Medal of Honor series needs a good kick in the pants ;) Lol!
