Err, here is one of my silly questions but I think I may have a faulty DS battery.

How often do you peeps need to charge your DS? I have found I need to charge mine practically every other day but my sister plays on hers just as much as I do and only needs to charge it about once a week.

We both play similar games: me - Animal Crossing, Karen - MySims.
I would have thought the batteries would have been similar with these games but mine is always running out.

The DS battery from new takes about 16 hours for it's first charge and it's capacity will be lower than expected for the first 6 charges or so. At its best you should get around 10 hours play from a fully charged battery. I believe they've increased it to about 14 hours with the latest DS's, something to do with the battery technology.

If you're getting less than 10 hours, then I'd suggest to take it back under warranty and start quoting "not fit for purpose" when they try to fob you off by wanting to send the DS back to Ninty.

Hope this is useful info. :D

if its a lite it depends on the screen brightness, and as zack said if you use wifi

I am getting approx 8 hours but for the next week I think I will count the hours its in use just to make sure - sad or what. I don't use the wifi and the screen settings are the default, I also very rarely use the sleep mode.

There is no reason other than a fault that I am getting such low usage out of it. I mean it keeps disrupting me when I am playing Animal Crossing.

Got my DS changed for a new one today. The battery finally went down to approx 4 hours life so back it went. Didn't have much trouble either.

I have actually seen a DS battery at 1600Mah on Ebay so I might buy that after my hols next week as its half as much life again as the originals.
