It has to be any of Stephen King's or James Herbert.
You can't beat a good horror, though recently I've been reading a lot of Dan Brown's.
I must admit to reading the Harry Potter's as well, and enjoyed them.

Big Dan Brown fan. I've read The DaVinci Code, Digital Fortress and am currently on Angels and Demons which is really good. I generally like thrillers and stuff like that.

I never get much time to read which is a shame because once I pick a book up I can never put it down until its read through. I like Dean Koontz and Harlan Coben novels:)

who are they? hey local i was wodering if you could put up an enlarged pic of ure avatar, i want to use it in an experiment but i need it to be big, any chance?
I read anything and everything I can get my hands on, but love horror and mystery/murder books. Try PJ Tracy if you like mysteries and Richard Montanari is also a very good author - The Rosary Girls is brilliant.
I used to read Stephen King a lot but aren't too keen on his latest offerings these days, and think I have just outgrown him.

I'd definitely recommend Richard Morgan's books if you like future sci fi. Read the Takeshi Kovacs trilogy starting with the book Altered Carbon. It's a bit gruesome in places, but very well written.
I also like Jack McDevitt's books (particularly Moonfall), and also the alternate history novels by Harry Turtledove (especially the World War / Colonization series).

Dean Koontz (though at times overly sentimental). James Herbert is good, Ghosts of Sleath stands out in particular. Ed Gorman, Steven King (years ago when he wasn't as tedious), Raymond E. Feist, and Douglas Adams.
