Never knew about this add on!

So I was flicking through Wikipedia earlier and typed in SNES. It shows a picture of an attachment underneath the console. I just assumed it was the CD Rom project they started with Sony before they made Playstation but it turns out to be some gadget called Satellaview.

It apparently linked to a satellite and allowed you to download and play games (Zelda being very popular), but what is really amazing is that it contained voice narration that was actually voice acted LIVE!!!!

Did anybody else know this? I consider myself quite up on gaming but I'd never heard it before.

Totally new to me, and I'm kind of taken away by what Ninty had achieved with it, great find Huzzie:D

It all makes WiiWare seem old hat to Ninty as they have been poking around with it for over 10 years now. I'm not to sold on the live voice feature but the ability to play streaming content in a game is common place in Second Life, but I doubt we're ever see it used on a Wii game.

I know what you mean by being taken away with it. It sort of blew my mind lol. I suppose the only way they could fit voice into a Famicom game (which was only cartridge) was to have it narrated live.........HOW MENTAL IS THAT CONCEPT?? Lol. :D

Voice was possible on cartridge but back in them old days Memory cost a bomb and voice uses plenty of it. Hence some old cartridge games that featured voice used very few words and these came as voice samples that were synthesised.

i can honestly say i knew about it, you could only play at certain times of the day cos of things like enemies appearing and stuff
