The active-play phenomenon started by Wii Sports now spreads to your whole body thanks to the pressure-sensitive Wii Balance Board (name not final), which comes packed with Wii Fit. The board is used for an extensive array of fun and dynamic activities, including aerobics, yoga, muscle stretches and games. Many of these activities focus towards providing a “core” workout, a popular exercise method that emphasizes slower, controlled motions. Family members will have fun staying active and talking about and comparing their results and progress on a new channel on the Wii Menu.

After watching that vid, which makes it look like fun as well as hard work, I might not bother with it.

Correction, GF's just seen the vid, she wants to buy it!!!
Since the Wii came out shes never been so interested in vid games.
Wonder when it's released over here?

Just seems like a bit of a scam to me at the moment... jumping on the healthy bandwagon.... From the trailer it looks a bore and the trailers usually show the best bits... the trailer really makes me cringe... specially the couple dancing... arrrrgghhhh

I am ready to eat humble pie... if this does turn out entertaining... but I doubt it...

Nice article.
I still don't understand why it's going to bee £50. I won't be able to get that anytime in the year. I know the board must cost alot but still don't seee why its £50.

So they may aswell sell Wii Music for £30.

Hmmmm, perhaps priced slightly too high (just). I'll still get this as long as the game itself is good.

Luckily for me the misses has asked for this as her b'day present, think she's worth £70 quid for all the cooking, washing, iron and nappy changing she has to do.....and living with me :D

£70!!! AHH gosh i cant spend that money on one game.

Sigh Ebay time.

Overly expensive! But that's about a weeks worth of takeaway money for me, so I'll just go without pizza :p

That's another good thing about the balance board, with both hands free we can eat whilst we play! lol!

Whattttt, £70.00, that's a weeks worth of incapacity benefit. (I've come off it now, & back in the land of paying taxes again, :-D )

I know Gail was looking forward to this coming out, but I don't know about spending so much on 1 game. I'll wait for the reviews after release, and make my mind up then.

Wonder if the balance board will be used for other games though, then it could be worthwhile.

Apparently, Reggie Fils-Aimes (or whatever he's bladdy called) has confirmed that there are ten games in development that will utilise the balance board. Rumour-mongers are suggesting another installment in the 1080 series, which would pretty much rock.

£70 sounds like a bargain if it's got 40 games/mini games

Much cheaper the joining a gym that you would only visit for a month but would be charged for the whole year

ordered mine on the 12th March and looking forward to getting in on the 25th, think it will be the biggest seller this year and didn't want to risk waiting two months after the release date to get it if it outsells demand as the wii hasn't really come down in price over the last year i don't think the Wiifit will either

As i posted in the bargins thread a while back. Tesco (http://www.tesco.com/entertainment/product.aspx?R=849076&bci=4|Games) were taking pre-orders for the Wii fit for £59.97 plus free delivery. Unfortunatly they must have sold their allocation.

The Gadget show has voted it the must have top gadget of 2008
http://gadgetshow.five.tv/jsp/5gsmain.jsp?lnk=401&featureid=693&show=s8e1&section=Features

The list was

No 1 - Wii fit
No 2 - Microsoft Surface
No 3 - OLED TV
No 4 - WiMax
No 5 - Rock Band

Can't wait, just hoping the release date doesn't get pushed back
