ive been hearing rumors (mainly from school) of a game called spore coming to every console, from what ive heard its an online only game where you start of as an amoeba, evolve and grow, and eventually you gain different technologies to attack other peoples planet with. it sound quite cool. can anyone confirm this?

Don't know of a wii version, but evidently it's been confirmed for the DS by EA. They're the only details i've come across.

These rumours started almost a year ago, but its all gone a bit quiet on this game so we're still waiting for a press release to confirm that the Wii version is in development. With the Wii being the hit it is, this encourages developers to support the Wii which means we will see more games on a Nintendo console than we've ever seen before.

Yeah this game looks awesome from the videos I've seen. If it's going to be on the DS I guess it'll be on the Wii as well, but I suspect it'll be a cut down version. I remember reading something about the programmers complaining that the relatively low power of the Wii made it difficult for them, not graphics wise but it terms of AI.

cheers. but honestly, if their gonna moan about the wii's lack of power compared to the pschav and xbox then they can bugger off as far as im concerened. wii definetly has the power to make both wonderful graphics and good ai, an example being zelda

I don't think you appreciate the scale of Spore. There's a lot more going on in Spore than there is in Zelda, and judging from the videos I've seen I'd be surprised if the Wii version is any good. I'd certainly rather play it on PC.

and anyway, we already know there making a wii version of animal crossing (which even the ds can handle.) and we all know animal crossing is absoulutely huge. so surely spore could work on wii

Well, I haven't played the Gamecube version of Animal Crossing, but the DS version really isn't very big at all, so I'd imagine its a very cut down version of the Gamecube game.
Have you seen the videos of Spore? Animal Crossing has you manage a town with a few houses and NPCs. Spore has you playing with entire planets, solar systems and galaxies if you want to, its in a different league to Animal Crossing.

The game sounds good but we will have to wait and see what they do at it. Hopefully they won't ruin it too much.

Spore is Wii-bound
Monday 29-Oct-2007 10:37 AM Nintendo's console joins list of platforms set to receive Will Wright's hugely ambitious galaxy game
Spore, probably the most ambitious game on the horizon for 2008, is coming to Nintendo Wii alongside its target PC format, Sims mastermind Will Wright has confirmed.
In a recent interview with Guardian Unlimited, Wright revealed that the galaxy game is being developed for Wii and despite the different controls, the Sims creator seems to have good things to say about Nintendo's platform.
"We're doing Spore on the Wii, and we did MySims," said Wright. "It takes signifcant re-thinking to work out how you're going to do it.
"PS3 and Xbox 360 are similar enough that you can basically use the same system for both. So it comes down to what the interesting major platforms are and which markets we want to hit."

I can honestly say I've never played any of the earlier versions, but from what I've picked up and read on the t'interweb it looks like I'd enjoy this when it comes out. Like the Sims but creating from the beginning.
