I found this great article which talks about the future innovations soon to be introduced into EA games. Imagine playing FIFA 08 at Old Trafford and in real life it starts raining at Old Trafford, it will then starts raining in the game as well. Rooney gets an ankle injury in real life and can't play football for 6 weeks, in the game he will also be out with an ankle injury for the same time. If EA are going to do regular roster updates on their sports games, do you think this means we'll see a drop in those pointless annual 'updates' on game mechanics? (Fifa/John Madden) No, me neither, surely it'd be counter-productive financially. Makes me wonder if roster upgrades etc will come at a price.

I'm quite excited by the idea of real time stats being applied to games, hopefully this will be free:rolleyes:

Its certainly a step in a new direction for sports games and it will eventually help to bring together video games with other forms of media.

It is exciting, i agree, and as you say the media potential for these games is limitless. It just sounds too good to be true. Hopefully the concept is hidden-cost free! (Damn, i'm cynical!)
