You should all wake up to your Wii's blue glowing light today. The Wii Browser from Opera has made another update available for download which will see many improvements over the trial version. For members that use the browser often will welcome the changes
* improved zooming and scrolling
* an improved zoomed font
* additional parental controls
* shortened startup times
* quicker access to “favorites”
* an ability to hide the toolbar
* buttons that will instantly type common preset letters, such as “www” or “.com”

Ah cool. Noticed that I got a message on the Wii this morning before work... but obviously didn't have time to check!

You just need to make sure after doing your system update to go to the Shopping Channel and update the browser from there. This is the final release which has a few other features that I haven't mentioned already.

Cool, I don't use it as much as I probably would if it functioned a bit better. Hopefully now it will!

cool although i cant use it anymore seeing as my wi-fi doesnt like the wii.
the main difference is the search button really. they added some favourites like nintendo and opera sites. what annoys me is that you can watch vids in the format like youtube, but not ones on nintendo's own website that they added as favs on the new wii browser.

Thanks for the information Local! I dont really use the Wii Opera Browser really though. Where my Wii is my Computer & Laptop are which they both have the internet on.
Ive used it a few times and found it quite fun though, but quite long when typeing in URL's.

The new update is far superior. It's much easier to use and works much more effectively, especially the new zoom features.
Overall big thumbs up for me!! :D

I have been meaning to get my Wii online again (round at mates with good wifi).
Now I can collect two updates, new improved Opera and the everybody votes channel.
I know the Opera improvements free, but is there any deadline for me to make the update?

There is a deadline but I can't remember when it is exactly, sometime in June or July '07 (the message Nintendo sent out today contains the actual date).

I thinks the improvements have made a big difference in the way you can now navigate the web with the browser. This was the biggest issue in that zooming into pages and moving around them was a pain in the ass.
I feel all we need know is every website to become Wii friendly and we're be sorted...lol
Whats everyones opinion of the update, are you satisfied with it and will use it often or do you think its way behind current browsers and won't ever be regarded as a useful channel?
All we need now is a keyboard

It's now become a very good browser, they've done a good job on the zoom and now I can clearly read the text without having to scroll all over the place. I will probably use this one more.

I downloaded this last night and it really is much better than the trial version :)
Agree with col though, a keyboard is needed to make it really usable.
