This news from Taiwan News Site DigiTimes.com (http://www.digitimes.com/systems/a20070327PD201.html) announces Nintendo have already altered the circuit layout of the Wii in order to block the increasing use of mod chips. The use of the present mod chips in the revised console could lead to a damaged Wii. However, it is expected to take only a month before revised mod chips become available.
Whats you view on the use of mod chips and do you think Nintendo should bother trying to stop their use?

I don't know why people are so desperate to be able to play games from other regions. Unless they're not going to be released over here why can't they just wait? I say good on Nintendo for trying to crackdown on it. If the console didn't have the feature out of the box it's not meant to be able to.

Because in the UK we pay WAY over the odds for our games. The argument about Region2 being more expensive to produce is blown out of the water by the lower cost of games in mainland Europe. Why wait 6 months and pay more money for a game that you can import from the USA? That's why some people are keen to mod their UK machines.....

Yeah, when theres a good reliable Mod chip for the Wii i will buy one. As the person above said why should we pay more and wait longer. I tottaly all this region-lock stuff. Why do they have to do it?

Yeah i'll get one when theres a good one, i hate waiting for games longer than USA and Japan, really does annoy me especially about super paper mario which is out in april in USA and Japan. Anyone know the UK release date? As far as i know it's not been confirmed yet.

Yeah Jario I want one now too for super paper mario lol! I badly want that game, according to Ngamer it's going to be a Jem, one of the best games they've played apparently. From the feel of their preview i'm estimating 95% ish so up there with zelda hopefully, i'm also glad they've gone with the idea of one big world and no battle modes like the old ones. Fortunately it'll be like the first super mario bros but yet modern and with cool aspects of 3D to really bring it to the future! One other great feature is that it's meant to be huge! Bring on the Paper Mario!

Yeah and i loved the old super mario bros, To be really honest ive never played a Paper Mario game!! But ive always like the look of it and have always thought it was quite amazing from the gameplay ive seen.

Anyone know how to install a mod-chip?

Mod chips can also be used to play pirated (copy) games, so that is why Nintendo are dead against them. Though the whole Paper Mario game has annoyed me, I saw a video of the game in action and wanted to buy it, just to realise the game is out in USA, but there's not even aa sign of any release date for the UK
