I've noticed some bad rumors being passed round about the new console, often along the lines of how s*** it is, and I have one thing to say:
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!
My mate got a PS3 on release and I was playing it with him on friday, and it's excellent!! OK, so they tried (and failed) to copy the wii with their controller, but you can turn it off. And the games seem a bit PS2-ish, but the graphics are amazing!!

i think the backlash in Europe is a combination of price and timing. we've had to wait 8 months(?) since the US launch and pay a hefty amount more for the thing. the ps3 is billed as the best thing since sliced bread by SONY but is very similar to the Xbox360 which has been available for ages now.......
Anger and dissapointment are never a rational combination.

Unfotunately, for me, graphics alone will not win me over and considering i could buy most PS3 games for the PC anyway i have no interest in buying one. Did look pretty on aan HD TV though.

Yeah, PS3 graphics may be good, everyone likes a pretty game, but they lack in the sense of games i think, except maybe FF they don't have any hugely memorable games like nintendo do. Xbox has good graphics and some good games, like gears of war, but i don't think they make enough good ones, but still they make a better Job than sony do. I think i like Nintendo for the fun factor and you always know you can buy a game, like Zelda and especially the upcoming brawl/metroid and throughly enjoy it. They make gaming fun, if they had amazing graphics with their creativity and games then it would be surely the best console ever. Don't you ever think the gaming companies should team up to make some amazing console?

That would be pretty cool, though it would end the battle of the consoles and we can't have that
A friend brought a PS3 on Saturday just for the Blu-ray, he's not a gamer, just watches movies. So maybe Sony's strategy may payoff if movie buffs want Blu-ray on the cheap.

I was speaking to a Sony employee on saturday. . . admittedly he works in the stores rather than the management side so this shouldn't be taken as gospel.....
Sony in the UK has the capability to produce HDDVD disks to promote their TV's etc but CAN'T PRODUCE BLU-RAY!
A blu-ray line costs £1 million to buy and the manufacture of each disk is vastly more expensive than HD DVD therefore the retail cost of blu-ray will be much higher........
assuming that those two statements are true, it seems that even Sony are not prepared to support the format....

Don't hate me guy's but I played on a PS3 last night and now I want one. Fortunately their too expensive and I won't be getting one until they are £250, so I'll be waiting a couple of years lol.
I played two games, Resistance: Fall of Man, Motor Storm and a Gran Turismo demo. Both of these games proved that the PS3 was nothing more than the same old games but with better graphics as we already know, so the Wii is miles ahead in that race. What the PS3 does offer is a complete multimedia experience on top of a high spec games machine. Blu-Ray technology is the in thing these days and with dedicated players no cheaper than a PS3 you would be daft not to get one instead. The graphics are awesome, I can't deny that. I played Motor Storm online which could be compared to the Wii's ExciteTruck game in simularity and Motor Storms wins hands down. You really do feel your playing a nextgen console when the graphics are so slick and well drawn you can't help but go wow.
Playing Motor Storm online was my first online gaming experience on a console and I do feel that playing a load of strangers felt no more exciting than playing against the console. So i do know that for me I am only interested in playing online games against people I know.
My main incentive to buy a PS3 will be for the Blu-Ray as I feel I do get more satisfaction from playing Wii games....I love Wii 4ever

I got a ps3 it sucks alright yer all ps3 have is the blu-ray graphics which are amazing but i think its doesn't differ with the HD Xbox 360.
Think of the missing out u will have with the ps3
1.Rumble feature
2.The games aren't that great and the future ones don't amaze people
3.fun motion Senseser with ps3 controller which was supposed to be better than the wii but is not
4.The space where you would like the to put the games by the console or a stand(which again ps3 cant have because its so big)
And the most fun things with a console is if you get bored and want a challenge you need...
5.ONLINE GAMING WHICH PS3 DON'T HAVE.
That is the 5 main things to me which i hate about the ps3.
And what messes me up is yer i might be able to buy a Hd tv only 1 (but sony gave me one which was kind!! so 2 now:P ) but for people who cant afford a Hd tv will miss out and will play it like a ps2 Whereas xbox 360 have great graphics even on a cheap sharp tv.
So to me i feel that my Xbox 360(well its my brothers) better than a ps3 but ps3 like another 360 without the luxury that a 360 have.
So I'm selling my ps3 for a price it should be sold for.
Not £424 which is far too expensive.

But even selling them at that price Sony makes a loss... ... ... ...
I'm not going to tell anyone how to run a business but (add your own reply! )
yher ps3 is an amazing console i would propely get1 if the price was lower.
tazz

Hmm i may get one when the price goes down. It's just that the thing that annoys about sony is they'll show some good cinematics on a game trailer or they'll say that the graphics are really good, but really once you get into the game the difference in graphics between the cinematics and ingame play is vast. I was playing on Final fantasy 12 on my PS2, i was like wow the graphics are good on the cinematics but then it swapped to in game and the characters had white lines around them and it really wasn't that pretty to look at, my TV is a really good HD one too. I put it on my much smaller TV and only then did the ingame graphics look ok but it made the cinematics just average. Maybe it was something to do with my TV but it really did shock me. I mean the PS3 will obviously have better graphics but i bet the ingame footage is noway as good as the cinematics, and the ingame footage counts the most in my opinion and generally thats what you mostly see.
