Microsoft has announced that it is bridging its XBox online service to PC gamers. This will make XBox Live the largest online gaming community by far. This move will, Microsoft hope, encourage hard core gamers to go for the 360 instead of the PS3 and its "Home" community. So it looks as if the balls back in Sony's court, and with their back against the wall it will be an interesting battle between the two console warriors.

Many commentators around the world see the battle for 'hearts and minds' of this generation of console wars to be between the Xbox360 and the PS3. That is not to say that the Wii is not a valid option of console, rather that it can co-exist peacefully alongside whoever is left when the other two have finished fighting. Lets face it, the Wii is fantastic but it aims in a different direction from the other competitors. It can't produce the same level of graphics, or handle as many polygons, or have a next gen DVD drive (interesting that Xbox has HD-DVD and PS3 has Blu-ray), but it is aimed more at a family than a Lone Gamer. Look at the major titles we are waiting for on the Wii - Mario, Mario, Mario - all cartoony graphics but great gameplay. What about the other two? You see my point.

If I can use my PC to play Xbox games will I? Probably not as it means I'd have to pay over £100 to upgrade to Vista which at the moment I have no need to do. Most of my processing power is devoted to work stuff or forums, I have consoles to play games on. IMO the people who are most likely to use their PC's to play Xbox games already play them - on their Xbox!

XBox live costs £40 a year which isn't to bad but not as cheap as the Wii :D

so do you think that the PC service will also cost the same?

as you say, the Wii online stuff is free!

I suspect the answer is probably yes
