Hi guys
I thought I was one of the lucky few that managed to get my hands on a Wii when Amazon made some available last week. My delivery estimate was 12/12/06 and after not getting a dispatch email as of yesterday evening I sent them a polite email just asking what was happening, why has there been a delay when it said clearly on the screen that I had purchased the item etc etc.
Got an email from them this morning
"Dear Customer
Thank you for writing to Amazon.co.uk with your enquiry.
We apologise for the delay in dispatching your order xxxx xxx xxxxxxx
Occasionally, unexpected fluctuations in supply can add to our dispatch or delivery estimations.
I have checked your order and regret to inform that we have still not received this item in our Fulfilment Centre.
Looking into situation, it is painfully obvious that we have been unable to dispatch this item as per the estimated dispatch date.
Please understand that as a retailer, we rely solely on the supply from our supplier. On this occasion we have found that this item has been delayed, and our supplier has not been able to let us know exactly when they expect to have more in stock.
However, please rest assured that we have passed your enquiry to our ordering department who will chase up your order. It is very important to us that you receive your order, and we will try to dispatch it to you as soon as possible.
We will contact you by e-mail when further information has been received - typically this can take between 2-3 days.
We will not charge you for it until we dispatch it to you. We'll send you an e-mail when we dispatch it from our Fulfilment Centre, confirming the date, contents and method of delivery."
It then went on to tell me that as a gesture of goodwill I can have a £5 gift voucher!
After thinking about it long and hard I decided to send one back saying that I was very disappointed that I had yet to receive order and that I was chatting to someone that ordered at the same time and day as me and has received their console. I also mentioned that I was outraged that Nintendo Wii's are being sold for well over twice the asking price via Amazon Marketplace on Amazon.co.uk and that I found it incredibly suspicious that these went on sale on marketplace minutes after they ran out of stock. I couldn't help but mention the banning of sale of Diana Concert tickets on eBay and said that Amazon should do the same thing as these people are looking to make financial gain as opposed to people that genuinely want these consoles for Christmas to enjoy with friends and family!
If I get anywhere I will let you all know, not sure if anyone is in a similar position as me.
£5 voucher was a nice touch mind! :D
