Heres a flight combat game coming up

Heatseeker is an action-oriented flight combat game from the same studio responsible for 2005's Heroes of the Pacific. The PS2 and Wii versions of Heatseeker will purportedly be almost identical, although the latter is made more interesting by its support of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controller.

While Heroes of the Pacific was set during World War II, Heatseeker will task you with combating modern-day terrorists from the controls of more than 20 different planes, including some of the latest fifth-generation fighters. The F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II planes that we saw during our demo were nicely detailed, and in keeping with Heatseeker's arcade-style gameplay, both had an unlimited supply of ammo. In addition to a machine gun, each plane will be able to carry two different types of missiles or bombs, and you'll get to choose which heavy weapons you go into battle with according to the type of mission that you're about to attempt.

Although dogfighting will obviously play a large part in the game, your mission objectives in Heatseeker will include escorting friendly craft, protecting structures, and, of course, destroying enemy units and other targets. Adding further variety to certain missions will be the addition of two wingmen for you to command, the need to identify targets before being given permission to engage them, and operational ceilings that prevent you from flying your chosen fighter into space or from popping up on enemy radar. Many of the missions in Heatseeker will task you with completing multiple objectives, so after defending a runway or an aircraft carrier from enemy bombers, for example, you might then be required to escort the planes that take off from it to their objective.

Average Score 8/10

Looked at this game on youtube today and it has an Afterburner feel to it which can't be bad.

I don't usually go for flight games but this looks fast and action packed. Very tempted to get this.

I'm hoping someone gets it, then they can tell me whether its good or not because I'm very tempted to get it too.

The control is very interesting, I presumed it would react immediately, like you were holding a paper plane instead of wiimote. In fact the wiimote feels more a control lever being used to maneuver the jets. If that makes any sense. That's good because it plays well sitting the wiimote in the palm of your hand, giving you access to A button to switch between lock-on Target's and B to fire. Weapons are scrolled through with down on the Dpad and left to issue orders if you have a wing-man. Nunchuck joystick controls throttle up/down. Like every new game, hang in there with the controls, and in about the first half hour, you'll see it makes sense.
Lots of military hardware, both real and futuristic to be unlocked through bonus missions. I love these kinda games but prefer the old skool WW1/WW2 flight games. That's because I normally prefer that style of dog fights. My compliment to this game is that the dog fights are great. (so are the subs, blowing smugglers out of a mountain and dodging a serious nuke and some WMD's). I love EDGE magazine, and they gave this a 5. but they did review a PS2 copy. The graphics really ain't much to talk about but do they need to be? Instead of a map the Islands in the sea below tell you where you are. You do get a radar so you know where the enemy's at.

I'll give it 8.2

Been hammering this game for a coupla days now and it's good, it's very good. Mind you I spent forever trying to land on the aircraft carrier at the end of level 1.3. very frustrating. Great mix of aircraft, boats, land vehicles, weapons and locations. Maybe a bit like Excite Truck in that its non stop all action.

lol......I hope thats all you've been hammering ;)

So its good, but does it make good use of the Wiimote and how does the game score in your opinion? Do you feel this game pushes the Wii's hardware or is it like all the other GC port overs we're seeing at the moment?
