Hi all

We are looking to have the most up to date news on stock levels of Wii. If you pre order your Wii please let us know any feedback you recieved. This is what Forrester recieved from play.

Looks pretty scary. From our feedback from GAME and HMV there are sufficient levels of stock for the 8th. BUT I would advise pre ordering asap if you still havent.

" Dear Customer,

Due to a European shortage of the Nintendo Wii Consoles, we regret to inform you that Play.com will be unable to supply your pre-ordered Nintendo Wii at launch. As an Official distributor of Nintendo products we are guaranteed more stock before Christmas, but Nintendo have informed us, along with all other official Nintendo retailers, that the console will not be freely available until next year.

All pre-orders will be fulfilled on a first come, first served basis and we will fulfil your order as soon as we can.

If you no longer wish to keep your pre-order with Play.com please login to your account and remove the item from your Outstanding Orders.

Kind Regards

PLAY.COM"

Cheers,

Team Wii

While pre-ordering my Wii from the game shop website a little while back, I noticed a big title telling me that due to so many customers, the order may not be delivered on the day (8th). I'm sure this won't effect me, as I won't be allowed it until X-Mas anyway, but to those of you who are treating yourself, be warned,

The Nintendo Wii may arrive late!!!

Yes it looks like we are down to a first come first served basis for all retailers now. I would imagine that loads of people may be disapointed till after christmas :(

My feedback from HMV was just a normal service email, they sent a confirmation of my order they haven't said anything on the website about shortages of Wii although we all know that might be a factor later on, they only have like what 1 million units shipped to the U.K.

This website http://www.wiifind.co.uk/buywii.html tells you which stores are in stock so good thing I ordered it from HMV. Don't know if it true or not. Hopely I should get one by launch.

Thanks for the feedback Swid2d. Thats good news about HMV.

To clarify, the WiiFind Table (http://www.wiifind.co.uk/buywii.html) in/out of stock is based on what we get from the retailer and the online booking engine.

I've heard some horror stories like play sending emails round that no pre orders will be shipped on the 8th so dont take the stock levels as a concrete guide. Although they are probably the most accurate around

Best feedback so far has been from GAME and HMV, both of which still claim to ship by the 8th. GAME has some nice bundles too.

Good luck.

I don't know about GAME. If you want to pre-order in store they've stopped taking preorders simply cause of the demand. I don't know if that means that they'll take care of preorders over the net first, I haven't been to a HMV store they're probably doing the same? But if HMV claim to ship by 8th of December that'll be great. They better do I paid £5 extra for the express delivery. Where did you get the confirmation from if you don't mind me asking?

It's a little bit more expensive due to the size of the company but,

if you are desperate for a wii, like myself, Techsplosion.co.uk (http://www.techsplosion.co.uk) guaranteed me one for launch.

I guess its up to yourselves if you want to pay slightly more to guarantee yourself one, or go for rrp but not really know until the 8th of Dec comes.

It advertises this on the Wii page.

when i pre-ordered mine from a GAME store ages ago (thank god) they said they would put your name on the console that is yours. (e.g. if i was the 12th person to pre-order in that store they would put my name on the 12th console and save it for me untill i came for it).

i think the internet site is different as it mentions that:
"Please note: The GAME.co.uk Wii preorder system is seperate to that operating in GAME stores. Strictly one per customer. Nintendo has not yet confirmed launch allocations, and due to expected high demand we are currently unable to guarantee delivery for launch day."

basicaly the stores and site have different stocks. the game shop that i ordered mine from said that they would have it for me on release, but will only hold it for 48hrs untill they gave it to someone else.

luckily when i spoke to the guy there he said i wasn't far from the top. (bout 20th i think) yey (hmm.... how many do you think they get in one stock load for the relase date?)

i'd pritty much guess that anyone who hasn't pre-ordered one yet (do it now!!) won't get them till after xmas or just before.

Amazon.co.uk are going to be taking preorders on the 21st of this month. Normally I order my stuff ffrom them cause it's a reliable site, I was waiting all this time for them to have stock, but it was a bad mistake. If you can be one of the first to preorder it on the 21st then you'll probably get by launch from Amazon. I also think that most the stores will only deliver the higher paying customers the ones that have bought the packages.
By the way which sites sell the cheapest game packages for the Wii, just the games as I've only ordered the console yet.

Where did you get the confirmation from if you don't mind me asking?

We work with HMV and GAME in other areas of online marketing so have a few good contacts. To be honest though everything has gone a bit too quiet for my liking. I wouldn't be suprised if we have a few shocks soon. The most reliable info may well be from the feedback from you guys.

Fingers crossed for your HMV order. When did you make it?

"Please note: The GAME.co.uk Wii preorder system is seperate to that operating in GAME stores. Strictly one per customer. Nintendo has not yet confirmed launch allocations, and due to expected high demand we are currently unable to guarantee delivery for launch day."

Really hard to call this one. Il try and find out more from our end but to be honest it looks like it will be first come first served so if you haven't ordered, do it soon. On the GAME site they are still claiming that it will be "available" on the 8th.

basicaly the stores and site have different stocks

This is definately true, stores will only have a set amount of stock per store. Unless you find a store in the outback I think online sites are probably the best bet!

Amazon.co.uk are going to be taking preorders on the 21st of this month

Great info, thanks Swiv2d. We have been waiting for Amazons pre orders to start. I'm really suprised they waited so long for pre orders. You would think that Amazon would have some influence as its the biggest online retailer!

By the way which sites sell the cheapest game packages for the Wii, just the games as I've only ordered the console yet.

WiiFind will be updating the games section (http://www.wiifind.co.uk/wii_games.html) shortly so we will have some great info for you soon. From my experience Play.com and Amazon will have a nice battle for prices so they should be good. HMV has been very aggressive on prices this christmas too so I would imagine they try to match/undercut the big players. We will add a price comparison spider to the games section so we should have a better idea soon.

if you are desperate for a wii, like myself, Techsplosion.co.uk guaranteed me one for launch.

Thanks for the info BlueCorrosion. Do you work for the company?

I tend to stay away from resellers, i've heard some scary stories. I dont trust them to be honest and would rather try for the big retailers. If anyone is desperate for a Wii around release and dont mind paying higher prices then just go for ebay. There will be loads up there within hours of release I would imagine.

My advice, advoid resellers like the plague. But I might be wrong, depends if you like a gamble!

Something has gone wrong with the HMV website It's been days and I haven't been able to get on it. I maybe just paranoid but I 'm actually believing that someone has hacked into it just to get my Wii.
Lol! Now how ridiculous does that sound..'pant..pant.. breathe..breathe!'

Really? That doesnt sound good at all. Keep us updated with how you get on.

Might have something to do with HMV going out of stock today :( It was going to happen eventually. It looks like all the sites are begining to run out now.

I would really advise people who haven't pre-ordered to find a site they like and go for it asap. I can see a back log of orders streching to January and beyond.

Thanks for your help Swiv2d

This is the feedback I got from HMV today:

We are writing to let you know about the Nintendo Wii order you placed with us at HMV.co.uk.

We're very sorry to tell you that, because there weren't enough consoles available from the manufacturer, we'll be unable to fulfil your order on the first day of release. Sadly, the limited supply we received means that only those customers who placed their orders very early on will have a chance of getting their consoles in time for Christmas.

We apologise for this disappointment and will endeavour to secure more Wii consoles from the supplier, getting yours to you as soon as we receive additional shipments. Should anything change, we'll be sure to contact you right away.

We fully understand that you may wish to cancel your order at this point. If you wish to do so, you can access your account details by Clicking Here>>>

Although stock for the Wii is very scarce, we will have many other games consoles in stock before Christmas, including XBOX360s and Nintendo's DS Lite.
To see a full list of options, please Click Here>>>

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us on 0845 603 7860 (Monday-Saturday 8am - 8pm & Sunday 9am - 5.30pm)

Damn it I just ordered from them guess I have to cancel. I thought I have a huge order than maybe they 'll send them cause that's one thing companies do is sell to the highest bidder. Well there's always Amazon, guess I gotta be ready by midnight.

 Not good news at all Swiv2d. Yeah worth trying Amazon. We are keeping a close eye on that for you. I would keep your HMV order though. Even if the order comes late its better than Febuary or something. If you have 2 im sure you could sell it, or keep it for 2 TV multiplayer action!

if you sell one, you might be able to sell it for slightly more if some people are despriate. £££
but you'd have to sell it before there is plentiful of stockl in the shops and online.

I don't know about having two, I don't think it's a long enough wait for the second batch for people to pay twice as much for it.
Anyways wanna here something crazy, I now have 3 pre-orders down: one at Argos, another at Game and another at Techsplosion.co.uk, they gurantee one by launch and Budtom and BlueCorrosion recommended it, and I still plan to try Amazon tomorrow. I have no idea which ones to cancel now. I'm just waiting for Argos or Games' sorrowful emails then I can stick with Techsplosion or Amazon, but I have a feeling I ain't gonna get the answer soon enough. Any advice on which to stick with, before I get charged like hell!

budtom
20-11-2006, 12:10 PM
hmm well you know my thoughts i trust techsplosion but if it's between amazon and them it's tricking, on the one hand they'll be more people going for amazon that techsplosion, but can techsplosion be trusted? well i think they can i'd personally go for techsplosion cos for amazon you'd have to like preorder within the few hours on opening to get one probrably lol

Swiv2d
20-11-2006, 10:09 PM
So I should cancel my order from Game and Argos, cause I have Amazon and Techsplosion? If you were refused by Game please let me know for how much, I think they only shipping out large orders cause they haven't denied me yet since my order for £219. At Techsplosion I've gone all out £370, it's alittle well.. alot more expensive there.

budtom
21-11-2006, 11:29 AM
lol 370, only 346 here guess if i wanted the classic controller it would be 370, but i'll get that at a l8r date

Swiv2d
21-11-2006, 07:15 PM
I pre-ordered one from Amazon, I can cancel all the other ones now. They've ran out though for anyone else incase you wanna preorder from then, but the only thing is that they've guranteed it for th 14thI'm thinking of selling it on ebay do you think someone will actually be willing to pay extra for it. How long is it anyway till the next shiment arrives?

Swiv2d
25-11-2006, 05:43 PM
Apparently I've been charged by Argos for preordering, techsplosion and amazon how sucky is that I think argos will pay it back but good thing I had some dough otherwise I really would of been F*****d. I thought they didn't take out cash till they ship them?

Did you really say you were looking for something that "said disaster" and then cut to a video of the Space Shuttle? lol Really? convert quicktime to wmv (http://www.quicktimetowmv.com/) Not being able to do voice and data on Verizon/CDMA is not a big deal. I had iPhones, original, 3G and 3Gs and they were great phones, but AT&T service is very poor to non-existant in the areas I live, work and spend most of my time. In July 2010 I left AT&T for a Droid X on Verizon. The service has been great and when the iPhone becomes available on Verizon I will go back to an iPhone. It's what service works best for your particular area. I'm sure there are areas where AT&T has better service than Verizon.

There's probably not much can be done beyond widgets, notifications and app launching. Hopefully the scrolling and animation is rock solid on all these new devices. I think the big usability payoff will be weight. If these 10? devices can be driven down to less than 1 lb weight, that'll be the biggest usability increase. After that, screen performance with sunlight performance, viewing angles, and DPI. And onscreen scrolling and animation performance is right up there with weight.

Apple really needs to implement over the air updates for minor improvements like this. I only update if there is a feature that I really want like the boosted safari in 4.3.1. If apple just went OTA for little stuff like this it would make it easier for all of us to stay up to date.
