To be honest, after I posted a similar notice on this messageboard, I discovered that a few websites have discouraged placing orders with Play because their inventory system is decieving and is allowing people to place orders when they still have a huge back-log.

I have since cancelled my order with play and ordered via gameplay. Has anyone actually receieved an order from play.com recently?

Well, only since Friday! It's just that I heard that they were quite slow still so I decided to cancel it and order from Gameplay instead as lots of people on this site have said good things about them. Let me know how it goes!

Hi all

I don't usually use forums but having spent the last week online searching for a Wii I wanted to share my frustrations with you all.

I was one of the people who ordered a Wii through Play.com on 9th February. It clearly stated in stock and would be despatched within 24 hours. On Monday 12th February I checked the status of the order and like many other people it was showing as order taken.

I phoned Play.com and was advised that they are at least a month behind on orders so I wouldn't be getting my Wii at the moment. This being a totally different story to the impression they give you when you manage to place an order. I was really annoyed as I had not bothered ordering from Amazon on the 9th as I had secured (or thought I had) my Wii with Play.com.

The man I spoke to showed no concern and all he kept saying was that they haven't taken any money. My response to this was that isn't the point and had I realised that this order was infact a PRE ORDER I wouldn't have bothered considering them.

Until this morning I had kept the order active with Play.com incase miracle of miracles they did actually despatch it but needless to say they haven't. I am happy to say that I have now managed to order on from Game Station this morning and have cancelled the order from Play.com which has been the most satisfying part of this whole fiasco.

My advice, if you want a Wii don't use Play unless you don't mind a long wait. They are taking PRE ORDERS but not advising THEIR customers so don't deserve the business which is such a shame as I have used Play for ages and never had any problem with any other products I have ordered. It just goes to show how this Wii shortage has made everyone a little bit crazy or perhaps greedy!
